Weekly Help Desk Updates - May 8th, 2008Introduction

New Faces and Changes....After a long hiatus we're back and with a brand new team member who is really kickass!

ewm is now a Senior Help Desk Representative.

The FAQ Spring cleaning is moving along nicely, however taking longer than expected due to some royal messy entries, the worst of them the submission faq's. We will get there though as we're greatly determined to make the FAQ a better place to look for answers.
Version 6 is in
beta!
Ewm's Corner
This week I would like to remind users that usernames cannot be changed. This includes whether a user wants to change their username completely or just a few minor adjustments like changing a lower case to an uppercase letter or adding or taking away a portion of the name.
If you need to change your username the only option you have is to create a brand new account. However, if all you wish to do is change the casing of your letters from upper to lower or vice versa this cannot be done even if you create a new name. Some users have been under the impression that if they "delete" there account they can resign up under the same name with the casing set up differently. Deleting your account is not an available option and as such once a name is created, it cannot be undone to change the casing of the username.
Please choose your usernames wisely in order to prevent the need to change your username. If you do need to change your username however, please remember that you will need to create a new account and when you create a new account, no information can be transferred so you will be starting brand new.

"
Hey Jenn! I'm a paid subscriber! I shouldn't have to deal with bugs on the site!"Well, dear deviant, paying for a subscription simply gives you all the great
perks that come with one. You're
not paying for guaranteed uninterrupted access to the site. As fantastic as that guarantee would be it's not something that can be promised by anyone on the internet. Issues can arise, things will need to be fixed or changes will be made. Your status, be you a subscribed or unsubscribed deviant, does not change that fact. It doesn't entitle you to faster service over a unsubscribed deviant who filed a help desk ticket before you. It doesn't mean your inquiry holds any more importance over someone else's. Your subscription pays for the features detailed on the subscription section of the
services page.
Our
Terms of Service states that deviantART is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We thank you for your support, from both subscribed and unsubscribed deviants, and ask that you understand the issues that arise on the site affect everyone. If you have any more questions don't forget to check out the
FAQ and come to us if you need further assistance.

Hi, I'm Chris Price and I recently joined the
Help Desk team. Previously I was a Message Network volunteer, moderating the
dAmn chat network as well as the
forums. MN@ is a great team and I will miss them all but I'm looking forward to assisting with
Help Desk matters as well as working here at deviantART headquarters in glamorous Hollywood, California.
In my free time I enjoy cycling, large Shepherd dogs that go woof, and listening to Chumbawamba. I eagerly await your questions and inquiries and hope that I will have some small positive impact on the community.

Mama, just killed a man. Put a gun against his head. Pulled my trigger, now he's dead. Mama, life had just begun but now I've gone and thrown it all away.
