`SparrowSong on writing, critique and her passions

^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, September 28
An interview with writer, critic (critiquer?), lit senior, `SparrowSong. Here are some tidbits:

“I like that my passions change. If nothing else, it gives me more to write about.”

“Everyone has heard the expression, ‘Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.’ If you don’t learn to critique, you will always be dependent on others to help you instead of being able to do it by yourself.”

“Art changes how we view the surface of the world to reveal truth or beauty—or both—underneath.”

The Small Hours Collection #1

=leoraigarath:iconleoraigarath: reports, May 13

The Small Hours Collection #1

“I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day. “
~ Vincent Van Gogh

”Most glorious night!
Thou wert not sent for slumber!”

~ Lord Byron, Childe Harold

"What hath night to do with sleep?"
~ John Milton

Welcome to the Small Hours of the night, I hope you’ll find this first collection as exciting and interesting as I found it. In here you will find a various artworks of Prose & Poetry uncategorized, from the most popular users to the most unknown, regardless of age, taste or genre. The only thing that binds them together is that they are enjoyed best after nightfall, at the small hours of the night – as close and intimate read should.

Please comment and let those fine writers know your thoughts, ideas and comments to their works at the art-page itself (but do so with respect and dignity!), and of course feel free to tell me what you thought on this collection by commenting here, or noting me – as you see fit.

Every collection will open and close with one non-literature art to arouse and sober the eyes. This art will usually be by non-familiar dA user but this time I would like to present before you a bit known artist and one which is less known.

All that’s left is to invite you to explore this collection and hope you’ll enjoy.

Best regards,
=leoraigarath

Title: Struggle Of The Mind
by *r-f

That’s One Way to Go by ^GeneratingHype
A biographical prose written in a most delicate and sophisticated style, which brought both a smile and awkwardness – a mix of the strangest feelings I ever felt.

    Dislocation by ~akanah
A Human Nature poem written with honesty and straight forwardness, and so feels as intimate and close as can be.

    Taunt by ~SadKittenGirl
A short poem about the masks we sometimes wear in a romance. The beauty I found in it has a lot to do with the fast-pace, the direct approach and mature/immature balance of feelings.

Broken Halo, Chapter I by ~MellowCandle
Angels, demons, a big mystery and a bottle of booze – this is the opening to the first chapter of the story Broken Halo, is there anything else you need to enjoy a good story?

    Afterlife by *Lalamags
I fell in love with this poem one the first read – it’s sweet and touching, telling a different kind of story we usually read in poems around dA.

    Mirrors by ~AsylumOrange
A precise word and structure of a Spiritual poem, 100 words exactly and no word is repeated – there’s a lot to learn about imagery and intricate work from this one.

    Delusion by ~Bearpod91
Multilayered surreal poem which is a little rough but sometimes things do not need to be perfect, they need to make you feel.

    Holly Leaves by ~draak-shadow
There are three layers of time in this dramatic fiction story, all moving forward at the same time toward the climax where all loose-ends tie-up into a beautiful knot, and still there’s enough room to ask the big question – why.

    On Moments by =Talescaper
Some stories you don’t read, they are simply telling. This philosophical prose has a unique pace and feel, with a cut-n-dry tone yet just as mesmerizing.

    Window Shopping by ~Mad-Eyes
Sometimes prose isn’t all about easy and fun read, sometimes it’s not even about a good drama or action. This prose is not for the light hearted! It’s about the ugly side of humanity, written very vivid and realistic. For those who read it I really recommend reading it twice, it changes the whole picture.

    Remember by =A-WildDog
Some stories build themselves, getting more stressing as you keep on reading. This story deals with one of the toughest subjects some of us deal with everyday.

    Boredom Bust by =illuminara
I want to end this collection in a lighter tone, and this little story by =illuminara is perfect for doing just that – a prey/hunter sarcastic game with humor, wit and a little bit of tension to sum it all with a smile.
