TDK Systems Europe has developed a system that allows a handheld Palm personal digital assistant (PDA) to control a desktop machine from almost anywhere in the world. Known as Palm VNC - short for virtual network connection - the package runs on almost any Palm and Palm-compatible handheld and will control a PC, Apple Mac or Unix desktop connected via by modem.

Other similiar products like PC Anywhere and Carbon Copy can give you the results, but the only thing that makes Palm VNC a little step higher then the others is that, you can simple just turn your handheld PDA on and bam have access to your desktop. I believe this is a lot better then carrying around a laptop or even a PC. Other then just viewing your desktop, you can run applications too as well, which is a great state of the art technology.

Tim Hillman, head of sales with the firm, said that the package was developed for the business user who wants applications to be accessible when out of the office. The software, he said, cuts through the hype surrounding wireless technology and provides access to real applications that have a function in everyday life. "The new software allows users to collect e-mail, gain access to office-based intranets and connect to the Internet just by using Palm and mobile phone," he said.

This product is to make its release date sometime by the end of this year. No word on yet off how much this product will be.
