My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations.
Artists need to be supported.

reports, May 18Alright people, it's a long weekend up here, & as I need to experience as many moments of free time as possible, let's keep the intro quick this time around.
You're gonna see some DD-worthy artwork. It's gonna rock.
Time to plug something: ^misskittyoooo is hosting a Villainous Villains contest. She & `delya are judging it. So it's encouraging creative character design & being handled by two amazing deviants, all of which rocks. So that's your cue to enter or at least show some interest in it. Just do it already.
Well, that wasn't so hard. May plug the contest in greater detail next week. Now let's get going with the main event already!

Alright now, on with the show! Here's this week's Mini-DDs...
*nobeak, whatever wonderful drug you were on when you made Word is born, I want some of it. Simply put, it's a truly incredible blast of lovely psychedlia, eye-pleasing color, & an amazing mound of detail & creativity...& it even features the friggin' Cookie Monster decorated with the Autobot logo! Come on folks, how can you possibly resist that? Fave it already!
One of the reigning queens of Sonic The Hedgehog fan art & fan characters, *puritylf4 has really outdone herself with AT: Shearer the Magpie. The character itself is cool, but it's all the little things - The coloring, the expression, every little hand-drawn valuable - That really does this guy justice & makes for one sweet piece of eye candy. Bravo!
Chocolate Skittles Fatality by ~paxtin...The debate may rage as to whether these vaguely controversial confectionaries are pure gold, crap, or anywhere in between, but one thing's for sure: This is one fun little cartoon, with a unique style & several nice little details from the flying candies to the expression to even the headband making for one sweet & funny piece of work. And in the end isn't that what really matters (I guess)?
Psycho Tango by ~squidbunny may be "older than God" according to the artist, but much like a fine wine, it aged perfectly. Everything here is truly lovely, from the style to the poses to the excellent background patterns highlighting Sasha & Milla's personalities. Plus, Psychonauts = Love. It's just common knowledge, people.
Time after time, *BenjaminCee always comes up with some mind-blowing, slightly cartoonish, & overall stunning piece of surreal artwork. And surprise, surprise, Soft helmet. is no exception. That unique style, that dark imagery & colors, that somewhat trippy feeling, & even the creative little story that goes along with it...It all works together in harmony to make one eye-popping beauty. Gotta love it.
~mathiole & ~DjBisparulz...Considering the amazing work each one of these talented artists has put out, a collab between the two of them would be like peanut butter & chocolate. And with Ultimate Midnight Terror, that dream collab becomes a reality. With a perfect mix of unique styles, a multitude of funky & cute little critter designs, some nice coloring & a cool concept, the end result is a gem that you can't afford to miss.
After having submitted over a dozen amazing t-shirt designs to Threadless, ~A-J-Mohacsy finally got noticed by them thanks to self destruction, a creative & humorous little cartoon that deserves all the honors it can get. The lineart is great & the color scheme is nice, but really now, you just can't beat that face. Just look him in the eye & tell me you don't want his t-shirt. I dare you.
Ah, randomness...Truly a magic word when it comes to amazing pieces of psychedelic work. And ~vxx3n really cuts loose here & creates a true rainbow-colored beauty in the process, chock-full of funky little designs, great linework, & a grand amount of detail. From the smallest twisted arrow to the largest tentacled dinosaur thingy, what's not to love here?
Robot on a turntable sandwich by ~Nubry & ~PeNcIl-ReBeLlIoN...With a title like that, how could I possibly resist? Seriously, between the cool robot design (& his breakdancing pose), the nicely-executed coloring, & the little touches of cartoonishness & surrealism, everything here makes for one fine drawing that deserves all the praise it can get. And once again, I also direct you to the title/concept. Come on, now is that not awesome?
