Community Choice?

This is a bi-weekly article put out by yours truly using your features! The concept is a great one, you select 3-5 deviations that you think are fantastic (not daily deviations, you can select an artist that has had one, but not the daily deviation), do a write up about why it is amazing (about a paragraph) and send me a note with your selections! Its that easy and a great way to show off some pieces that you are absolutely in love with! Of course, Manga and Anime only for me

A beautiful picture - I just love the detail of the dress and the way said dress looks like part of the waterlilly. And the blade is cool, too!

A favorite of mine because of the emotions and compostition of the pic! I like Tristan's expression.

I love michiyo-fujiwara's style! I love this picture for the smile and the shading!

The black and white with a splash of red for the blood with the caption. I love its simplicity. Classic!

This picture has a really soft feeling, and at the same it's dark. The person is one with his music, it's like there's some magical upon the guy and the piano, you can almost hear the sound. It's simply amazing...

"My Frozen Prison" by: =centi

I love this piece, the text added a lot aswell, it explained it. But besides the story behind the picture, the colouring is incredible, it's soft and the picture as a whole just makes you want to keep looking at it.

This picture needs more attention if you ask me. It's totally street and the atmosphere between the two characters is incredibly funny.

"Reaper IV" by: *frzdragon

Ok, I really wanted this picture to be in, because it's the first thing I ran into when I joined deviantART. I couldn't stop looking and this is probably the reason why I started drawing. It's the typical guy from all those animes that keeps fighting no matter what, but then with a dark zombie side.

"Asterisk" by: =Aquafeles

Whee~! A blast of fruity 'n' fun color™ all seeming to sprout out from one petite point (that being where the feet are, says I). Sincerely splendid to view-- the warm shades, the ability to brighten a mood, the attention to Duke Detail! And to think I found this gem whilst simply searching through the keyword "asterisk." What luck!

The villainous Dr. Flat was not victorious! For ~Hikari151 has made proper use of his magic to foil the doctor's dastardly plans to cause this lovely artistic piece to look flatter than a flat thingamajig! The aaaaamazing perspective makes all fun to gaze at. And this is no one spectacle show-- the details also stylishly showed up with textures, lightings, and shading! Happy day!

"Uma and her EvilBag" by: ~xMeicox

As the title suggests, there is a lass and her evil pet in some sort of state! Whilst the niftily 'n' creatively designed creature does look frightening with its sharp zipperable teeth, she minds little in her adorable perfectly penciled self, and even pays more attention to the cute beastie hanging down in front of her. Truly terrific!

"the sun is falling" by: ~pcmaniac88

What makes this deviation so nice, is that it's down to earth. One of the things that impressed me was that the image itself felt simplistic, yet the details are amazing. When I look at this, I remember the summer days from when I was a kid, swinging while my mom took in the laundry. Part of why I love this deviation, is because it reminds me of my own life.

"Thist of Angels: Alessandria" by: =anzu-manga

I first saw this deviation when I launched my Original Character Appreciation Contest. As soon as it as submitted into my contest, I knew that it was going to end up placing, and it ended up in second place for the Manga/Anime category. It ended up placing second, and I was extremely happy. There is an overall warmth about this deviation that made me fall in love with it.

"Moment of Beauty" by: ~neversummer

This an older deviation, however I remember that when I first saw it on the popular page of DeviantART, I fell in love with it. The soft colors help to bring out the overall calm feeling of this deviation, which I believe made it so popular.

"Discombobulation 3" by: *PyneappleGurl

The Discombobulation series is quite hysterical. It is insanely funny and full of bright colors, it is quite a sight to look at. Pyneapplegurl has been one of my favorite artists for a long time, and her art always amazes me. Her gallery is one to visit.

"+ Fly +" by: *AlexiusSana

I absolutely love the pose of this deviation. The angle, perspective, and everything else about it is amazing. This is extremely well drawn, and the balloons have texture to them, which is difficult to do. This deviation is simply a +fav.

"+Go, Go, Gothical+ OP part II" by =Mako-fufu

This one´s idea is great. She made some sort of storyboard, but emuling an opening at the same time.

I´m in love with the coloring style. Plus, the angel girl is the cutest thing I´ve ever seen!

"Mother Irrth" by: *SilentNeko

Her take on the concept of Mother Earth (the name Irrth being a pun) to me is breathtaking, beautiful and dangerous all at the same time. The lighting and background fit nicely with the character.

"Is it worth it?" by: *SilentNeko

I think copying and pasting the comment I left on this piece should sum it up nicely. "... did a great job with him. I like all the emotions you can see one his face; the confusion, heartache love and slight fear of rejection. It's easy to tell that part of him wants to go forward and part of him is holding him back (especially with the wing placement, they look almost like they are blocking his way). I really love all the colours and his hair is gorgeous."

"Do Not Fear" by: *SilentNeko

Once again, amazing use of lighting and texture. The colours are strong and the baackground adds a lot of vibrance. I love the overall realism in this one.

"Tangled in Hate" by: *SilentNeko

If the colouring, the character designs, the poses or the over all composition of this piece don't blow you away, the symbolism will. I find this a harder piece to explain my love for, but it's beautiful work none the less.


As you can see, everyone had a different approach to this but the outcome was the same: Deviants were featured by deviants! This is such a fun project and I hope to see your submissions for then next article!
