National Coming Out Day

*Thats-Your-Funeral:iconThats-Your-Funeral: reports, 12h 12m ago
Have something to say on Coming Out Day? SHARE YOUR PRIDE! Are you a man who likes men? A woman who likes women? Or perhaps a man or a woman who likes BOTH men and women? Or perhaps NEITHER men NOR women. Are you a transexual, transgendered, bigendered, genderqueer or intersexed person? Or perhaps... Perhaps you're none of these. Maybe you're a straight ally, fighting for gay rights. Well, whatever you are... SHOUT IT OUT LOUD AND SHOW THAT YOU'RE PROUD!!!

World Mental Health Day - October 10th

~alcheme:iconalcheme: reports, 14h 4m ago
A friend of mine, *Flutterings came up with the idea to post a news story about mental illness in honor of the "World Mental Health Day", but with the day fast closing (at least in my time zone) and knowing she has a plethora of other things she is currently dealing with, I opted to post myself.

But my news article not withstanding, her original intent, and beautiful deviation commemorating the day and the essence should not be merely over looked, but seen and applauded ([link]).

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE GETS THE BLAME

~MCrmySmurf:iconMCrmySmurf: reports, May 21
The Daily Mail newspaper have uploaded a new article onto their website about the supposed Emo suicide cult that everyone believes Hannah Bond was a part of. Hannah Bond was a girl from the UK who was apparently 'emo' and whos favourite band was My Chemical Romance. She committed suicide.

Eight months have now passed since 13-year-old Hannah Bond committed suicide, but for her parents the questions continue.

In the unending bleakness of the weeks that have followed, the couple have fought to make sense of what happened.

Why on earth did their daughter — a popular, intelligent and attractive girl — do such a thing?

They could find only one clue: Hannah was what is known as an "emo".

Some describe it as a cult or a sect, but in reality the term — derived from the word "emotional" — encapsulates a trend that is becoming hugely popular among Britain's schoolchildren.

Other quotes include the following: Her favourite T-shirt is patterned with skulls, and she spends hours in her room listening to music by My Chemical Romance.

"Their lyrics seem to be associated with depression and self-harm, and I feel shock when I listen to them," says her mother.

[link] are organising a peaceful protest outside of the Daily Mail newspaper's HQ. With all the recent articles from the Daily Mail about My Chemical Romance being a emo suicide cult, the protesters want to show the newspaper they are not a cult, but an army.

The protest will take place on Saturday, May 31st 2008.
The peaceful protest starts at Hyde Park, London at 9:30am. At 10am, everyone will be making their way to Daily Mail HQ on Derry Street, London.

NME.COM have run an article about the upcoming peaceful protest that is taking place at the end of May. Heres the article:

My Chemical Romance fans are planning to march across London in protest against the depiction of the band in the media.

The march, to be held on May 31, will begin at Hyde Park's West Pond and end outside the offices of The Daily Mail.

The newspaper has recently dubbed My Chemical Romance a 'suicide cult' band in its coverage of the suicide of 13-year-old emo Hannah Bond.

Three hundred fans are so far confirmed to march against the British press, of which the organisers from the MCR Buzznet Community in a statement claim The Daily Mail is the 'worst offender'.

In 2006, the newspaper widely criticised emo and My Chemical Romance and has recently run general pieces about the dangers of the 'cult'.

I would like for all of you MCR fans to please vote on the pertion that MCR was not a cause of Hannah Bond's death. Go here: [link] to sign the petion. MCR NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!!!

Never let anyone bring you down. Never think your life's not worth it. Never turn to suicide. Never turn to depression. Never harm yourself in anyway. Never give in.
Keep standing, keep fighting the good fight no matter what.
Keep yourself alive

MCR is a band entirely against suicide and its completely unbelievable to think they could have been the cause of it. When someone commits suicide, it is not because of the music they listen to.
it makes me sad.

Number 918 on the petition, longest comment there, and I spelt "controversial" wrong. Damn. xD
But it's great to see so many people who agree with this :)

I'd sign that petition, but I can't... *cries* I can't go to the march either >.<

Oh well... I still don't like the fact that they are still blaming MCR for this. They are so totally against this kind of stuff, and it's just not right!
Just like Gerard said, f*ck the Daily Mail!!!

My Chemical Romance is the best band in the world. People just won't admit it.

C'mon people, admit it. You know it's true.
