Red, possibly the most powerful color, is a raw vibrant color that represents many emotions. It is most commonly connected with emotions that 'stir the blood' and get us excited.

Red is a bold and warm and therefore we think of it as strong yet personal. Red is a color in most skin tones and is essentially linked to life.

Although color psychology generally states that color can represent different things depending on the time and culture I think we can all agree that Red reminds us of: fire, love, passion, guilt, sin, energy, speed, power, blood, war, anger, revolution, warning, autumn and summer.

Red has physical effects on people including: increasing one's self confidence, stimulating brain activity and increasing respiration, heart rate, and blood pressure.

Fire; Red is connected to fire more than yellow or orange because it represents heat and energy.

Love; sweet love. Love, like red, is intense and strong. It can make us, and it can break us. Either way it's bold and leaves a lasting impression on us.

Red Roses are delicate and beautiful and are usually associated with romance. It’s easily seen why these gorgeous flowers are such a popular subject among artists. (I recommend full-viewing these!)

Passion/Lust will definitely raise your heart rate and get your blood pumping. [Wearing red too often may indicate you place an importance on sexual desire.]

Speed; nothing gets your adrenaline pumping like fast movement

Blood and anger; it’s rather obvious why when we think of blood we think of red. Blood typically represents violence, pain and betrayal. Anger is an intense emotion that we sometimes cannot control. This causes people to act on impulse.

War and Revolution; war is something the human race is terribly guilty of. Revolution is the art of making a change and fighting for your values.

Warning; warnings need to get people’s attention and what better way to do that then the most obtrusive color.

Summer and autumn relate to red because of the heat and the changing colors of the leaves

Red rooms simulate conversation and are said to make people hungry. [Fast Food restaurants use Red to make people eat quickly and to increase their appetite.]

Unconsciously red can help people overcome negative thoughts and increase self confidence.

An abundance of red can actually make people impatient.

They say people who often wear red are typically ambitious, excitable, sexual, energetic, courageous and impulsive. Wearing red gives people a strong first impression.
