DeviantArt Watermark

It's not that i don't like the deviant art logo... it's a 'nice shape'
But when it is used as a watermark placed right in the middle of an image it is nothing but an annoying distraction.
Watermarks can, and should be subtle and can even add to the effect of an image.
If used, a watermark should be part of the creative choce of the artist and not some random event.

The problem with the deviant art watermark
it is ugly, obtrusive, large and placed in the centre of the image
i don't mind watermarks, they can look cool, or be a signature, logo for your work
the great painters signed their work, but not right in the middle and in a huge marker pen
a watermark set in the center draws the eye away from the work at is really difficult to view the work properly.

Resizing images as an alternative:

If you are concerned about art theft one alternative is to limit the size
When you submit deviation, select a suitable size (400 pixels wide is the smallest)
uncheck the Allow download of fullsize image option
