Le-Visage

Lara Jade aka `
larafairie is a well recognised 'face' on deviantART within the photographic community, not just for her beautiful, evocative and sometimes haunting self portraits, but because she is indeed a very talented and respected young Photographer, whose work has been featured in professional photographic magazines.
Lara's portfolio is extensive, and her individualistic style has garnered her a considerable following both here on dA and amongst other photographic communities. Her work is exceptionally stylish, elegant, and very professional, encapsulating a style of visual representation that is both contemporary and modern, but also has an subtlety classical allure.
Every picture does indeed tell a story. The Interview....

1. So, what bought you to deviantART, how did you find the community?Actually it's quite a weird story as I wasn't even into photography at the time. I was completing my art GCSE at school and whilst browsing for reference drawings of fairies on the internet deviantART came up. I was immediately drawn in at how creative people could be with photography and Photoshop.2. What are your personal artistic motivations? The motivation to be original strives me. We are in a world surrounded by imitation so my first thing is to try and be original above anything else.3. What is the particular appeal of the face for you?The face (often unique faces) are great to capture - you can capture them emotively, capture personality or even style.4. What is your working methodology (e.g. how do you approach a new piece of work/subject and what is your favoured process of creation)?I often start brainstorming or sometimes keep the idea in my head. My favourite way is to go through ideas on the day, it's hard to put your finger on a specific thing beforehand unless you know your location, models and creative team inside and out - so usually I get to the location and THEN ideas come to me.5. What are your favourite tools of the trade? My canon cameras, canon lenses and Adobe Photoshop CS3.6. Who and what are your sources of inspiration both on and off deviantART?I don't tend to look for inspiration on deviantART, I like to look outside. I am inspired by fashion photographers, old masters in art & painting, music, films.. almost anything. My favourite photographers at the moment are Eugenio Recuenco, Steven Miesel & Craig Mcdean.7. How do you feel about being such a popular member of the community; what are the positives and negatives? It's great to be noticed for your artwork, but to be honest people tend to think popularity online means you are earning millions of pounds. I hardly get work from art communities, it's mainly through recommendations!8. You have received one Daily Deviation: ( thus far, what did it mean to you, and did getting it change anything?I don't always agree with daily deviations as people get overlooked. I was surprised because I hadn't had one before, and then becoming more popular I suddenly got one on a piece that was very different to the rest of my works, it was great though and I got a lot of feedback on it.9. What are your artistic goals and plans for the future?I hope to one day become an established photographer in the industry working with top clients.10. What advice do you have for other artists? To keep practicing, push your boundaries and never give up!
