For those who are need of historical/antique themed resources, this is the place.
Welcome to Resourcefully Yours "Show and Tell". A bi-weekly Articles concentrating on the exposure of the Resource gallery for the true Treasure Trove that it is.
"Show and Tell" will give you an insight to the large and diverse selection of the fabulous Resources that have been made available to us by our dedicated Resource providers here on devaintART.To do this I have set up a small teams of "Resource Hunters" to go out into gallery to hunt and play with resources and applications they would not normally use by encouraging them to step out of their "safe/comfort zone and try something new. Below you will see what my nifty team has come up with and what they had to say about their newly discovered Treasures.
Presenting my fifth team of "Resource Hunters".
Alice's Nightmare by
This is my very first complete photo-manipulation! Any prior to this one was mere adjustments in PS, nothing REALly manipulated like in this one!![]()

Again, I have to thank ^znow-white for making me push my boundaries. This time, with more time to seek and find goodies in the resources galleries I found myself using several stock images,Victorian Mirror by *mirrorimagestock,Ghost by *unholy-stock,Various - 11 and Little Gargoyle by *mjranum-stock,Package - Spooky - 3 by `temoc for *resurgere ,Orpheo 29 by *Ahrum-Stock ,Stock 032. by ~enchanted-stock and ball3 by ~LuckyStock , 1 set of brushes by ~Sangre-brushes and 1 action HolgaRoid Generator BW by =rawimage (yes, the same from the first time, I loved it!). This took me a couple of hours to do and I had some issues with a couple photos, but I put the blame on me, who never took the time to read tuts!
I enjoyed doing photomanipulation and I'll keep doing it.I found a new passion!!
Rockin.... by
A experimental poster design, the idea was to make a illustration, which is not supposed to be picture perfect (picture perfect = something that looks like a photograph) nor should be cartoon like!!
The illustration of the girl is referenced from one of the images, Rocker Pack 1 by ~ElvenSheepStock (thank you ~ElvenSheepStock ) Now I rarely draw in Photoshop, I totally & comfortably use Illustrator when I have to use pen tool.... I wanted the outlines to be a bit lil chalky & coloring the way as you can see, I think, it was fun doing this in PS!! Its not perfect or anything, but I don't often draw humans....so YO!!![]()

Also the awesome font used is trashco.ttf-download by ~loosy & couple of bg brushes VECTOR-LINEDOTS - HQ by *IHEA thank you both!!
Colouring lineart Bumse by
The image of the cat Bumse is a picture lent to me by its author =InStunnedAwe![]()
While looking for some "kewl" resource to use I found Cat Head Tutorial by ~unistar2000 that was very attractive for me who loves cats !!![]()
I found the tutorial very clear and nicely explained, the use of a new colour with each addition is also most helpful.
I followed all the steps as illustrated.Used the common mouse and the image was made in Photoshop CS2.
Thanks to ^znow-white's suggestion I searched for a tutorial to put some color in the black and white image I got by following the previous one about drawing a cat's face, and below is the result of my last effort.
Following the instructions in Coloured Lineart Tutorial by ~Evening-Tide
I found some steps were not quite applicable for what I needed but I am sure would be great for those who are skilled (very envious about that)at drawing and need some good (and fast!) method to coloring their images.
Again this is another well explained tutorial that enlightens (it did to me) some good method to go about working digitally with images, in Photoshop at least.
Hope it will help others too

Color for me has always been a this or that factor in whatever I do,and usually find due to the vast choice on offer I get stumped.
So For this little exercise,I chose to use color in the form of a wallpaper, which is something I always plan to do,but never get around to it.
For the background I used Lighting Effects Photoshop by ~ardcor which proved to be a simple and easy tutorial to follow, using lighting effects and color to create soft and subtle areas of subdued light. Admittedly I made one mistake after creating the background,I inadvertently stretched the various layers, which I found at the end gave a rippled effect.
leftover vol. 1 by ~sancsky I found by chance and of course had to grab them. They reminded me of bright and colorful Disco Bubbles which I thought would suit my background perfectly. The pack itself contains 6 Bubbly textures that are the remnants of ~sancsky's own work which she has kindly given us to play with.I only used one of these, but must admit it was difficult to choose which.Applying them to the background was pretty simple,I used the same texture which I duplicated 3 times and composed them using the free transform tool. After a slight desaturation and color shift I was ready to for the final touches.
Finally I needed something to break up the Disco Bubbles, and brushes were the obvious thing to use.I must say we have a multitude of fantastic brushes in the resources gallery, and really felt spoilt for choice.I finally plumped for Ultimate Brush Pack No.3 by =Axeraider70.I only used a couple from the pack as I wanted to keep to a less is more and simplistic look, though I a sure if I had more time the wallpaper would have been covered in them.
All in all I think it came out very well, yes there could be room for improvement, but as this is more show and tell ,rather than having perfection in mind,it just shows us what can be accomplished with just a few resources from our gallery and a couple of hours to kill.I would highly recommend all the resources I used to create Bubbles as there uses are endless.
I had made several color variations using overlays, but due to the rippled effect the lines were too noticeable, serves myself right for tweaking..but have learnt a good lesson from it.![]()
I would like to thank my team of Resource Hunters for playing along with the Show and Tell for this time, and of course not forgetting the Resource providers that never cease to amaze us with their generosity for providing us with the best Resources anyone could ask for.![]()
