The I Am Not My Body Contest

Your submission must be submitted to your gallery, as well as to myself (see below) on the day of, or after JUNE 15, 2008, but not after SEPTEMBER 1, 2008. If your photo does not meet this criteria, it will not be considered for the contest, sorry. In other words, no submissions dated before June 15, 2008

The Contest Rules

THIS CONTEST BEGINS JUNE 15th... PLEASE READ ALL RULES BEFORE YOU SUBMIT ANYTHING!

These rules are subject to change.

Theme of the contest: "I Am NOT My Body"
Keep that in mind always. The theme of this contest is to show that models are more than objects, that there is more of a depth to their lives than most would realize. I think that most see only the surface, and that depth of their lives sometimes gets lost beneath the illusion of being eye candy, and the complete misconception of being stroke material.

Requirements
1) This contest is only for photographic artistic nude submissions. No photomanipulations beyond any basic technical "fixes".

2) Your submission must be submitted to your gallery, as well as to myself (see below) on the day of, or after JUNE 15, 2008, but not after SEPTEMBER 1, 2008. If your photo does not meet this criteria, it will not be considered for the contest, sorry. In other words, no submissions dated before June 15, 2008.

3) While the model must be within the "artistic nude" parameters as presented by dA, the challenge will be that they must depict somehow that they are more than just the body they present to viewers. In essence, it is a dare to the viewer to look beyond the body to the person the model is. It is a dare to the model to open themselves up. It is a dare to the photographer to look deeper at their model.

4) Photographer should present a model with whom they've worked extensively.

5) Photographers and models can only submit ONE piece each.

6) Models who are their own photographers for the submission must choose to submit to the model or photographer category. They can not submit to both.

7) Your submission must mention in the description that it is for my contest, and include a link to this journal entry.

Who is this contest open to? UPDATED
1) Amateur and professional photographers and models alike, as long as they adhere to the theme and rules. Let's make it challenging for anyone

When does it begin, when does it end?
The contest begins June 15 and final submissions should be in by September 1st, 2008, voting will commence in the following week, winners to be announced September 8, 2008.

Prizes! How will this work?
Originally I was going to have this contest open to models only... but I figure that a photographer who stays within the theme should also be rewarded. There are two categories, "Model" and "Photographer", and three winners from each category will be chosen by the viewers through an open poll in the week following the close of submissions on September 1st, 2008. At this time, the prizes are identical, should anyone wish to donate a prize... please note me, and also note which category the prize is to be added to!

Models
First Place: A one-year subscription to deviantART, and 1 dA T-Shirt.
First Runner Up: A three-month subscription to deviantART, and 1 dA Keychain.
Second Runner Up: A three-month subscription to deviantART, and 1 pack of dA Stickers.


Photographers
First Place: A one-year subscription to deviantART, and 1 dA T-Shirt.
First Runner Up: A three-month subscription to deviantART, and 1 dA Keychain.
Second Runner Up: A three-month subscription to deviantART, and 1 pack of dA Stickers.

How can I submit to the contest?

Simple.

All you have to do is note me with a link to your submission starting June 15th. In the subject line of your note, mention whether you are submitting to the "model" or "photographer" category. Just be sure to stick to the rules and requirements. If you do not, your submission will not be considered. Best of luck to all who enter!
