After another hiatus we're back, I truly do apologize for these but they have been needed to work on a few other things.

As most users know by now version 6 is being beta tested like crazy and will soon come to a monitor near you. With this in mind I should note that some things in the FAQ will be out of whack as we go through and cleanup all entries needing removal or editing. This craziness should only last another week, but could roll in to two and we do apologize for this should it cause you any inconvenience.
Once v6 has launched (AKA - Our craziness in preparing for the launch day ends) the Help Desk Team will be rolling out some fresh new guides for you. These guides will focus on the types of things that could cause you delays help wise, plus feature helpful hints on how to avoid them.

In closing I would like to remind users again that if you are experiencing a bug to please not post your report in response to this article, please instead visit the
Status Forum and see if the issue is listed, if you do not see the bug listed there then please feel free to drop us a line at the
Help Desk. Thank you!

Have you ever wondered how to set up your
deviantID the image that can be found on your userpage between your journal and your devious information? It's actually really simple and only takes two steps to put it up.
The first thing you need to do is submit your deviantID as a deviation into the proper category which is deviantART related > deviantID. If your deviantID is not in the proper category it will not work. Please keep in mind that your deviantID should be a JPG, PNG, or GIF and flash animations are not permitted. In addition, in order to prevent your ID from being cut off at the side of the page keep your image no wider than 400 pixels.
"Well I submitted my deviantID now what, does it just show up in the deviantID location magically?" Nope not yet, there is still one more step to go! In order to have your deviation show up in the deviantID area of your userpage you will need to visit the Public > Userpage Display section of your
Edit Settings & Profile page and then select the desired deviantID from the drop down list located in the 'User Page Elements section'. Once done click on 'OK' to save your changes.

This week I'd like to talk about what the
Gallery Management tool is used for. In the Gallery Management page you can store and unstore, activate and deactivate availability in devMOBILE and set critique preferences for multiple deviations at once. This tool is located in your message center, under the "messages" tab. The "Manage my Gallery" link is located in the right hand side column. Clicking this link will take you to the management page.
The storage tool can be used to choose which deviations will be displayed publicly in your gallery without having to delete and/or re-upload. To store a deviation click the check box next to the deviation and then click the "Store" button. Doing this will remove the deviation from public view and make it accessible to just you. To unstore a deviation click the "Storage" link just to the left of the list of deviations. Once there, click the check box next to the chosen deviation and click the "unstore" button. This will make the deviation public once more.
The deviantMOBILE service is for sharing your deviations on mobile devices and blogs. You can make your deviations available or unavailable in this service by clicking on the check box next to the chosen deviation(s) and choosing "enable deviantMOBILE" or "disable deviantMOBILE" from the list of options in the "more actions" drop down menu at the top of the screen.
The different critique preferences include "Encourage advance critique", "allow comments" (default setting), "Discourage advance critique" and "disable comments". Check mark which deviations you want to set the preferences for and choose which critique level you want from the "more actions" drop down menu.
The changes you make in this screen can always be reset or changed again. If you have any questions about the Gallery Management tool that aren't covered in the
FAQ don't hesitate to ask away in the
Help Desk.

Hello there, deviants. The
deviantART forums are a fun place to hang out, meet new friends, and engage in lively conversation. A team of forum moderators (members of the MN@ team, indicated by the @ user symbol) do an excellent job of keeping the forums a pleasant place for everyone, and this week I'd like to show you how best to help them in their duties by reviewing the best ways to report a suspect forum thread or request a lock for one of your own.
Without a doubt the easiest way to do this is to visit the
#MNAdmin channel on the
dAmn chat network. This is where all the forum moderators hang out: there is nearly always someone there, and you will have your request handled quickly and efficiently. Please be prepared to
supply a link to the forum thread in question, and to give a reason why you think the thread should be closed (if it is not your own thread).
A less efficient way would be to
send a note to a forum moderator about your request or concerns. Response times may vary depending on whether the moderator is online or not, whether they have taken a long weekend, and so on.
Finally, you may
contact the Help Desk with your inquiry. As with noting a forum moderator, it may take a while to get to your request depending on the current caseload, whether you submitted your inquiry over the weekend, etc. Indeed, this is often the least satisfying method of getting your forum thread closed simply based on the time it may take to fulfill your request.
Whichever method you choose, rest assured that your concerns will be addressed swiftly and with pleasure by whomever it is that ends up helping you. DeviantART is founded on community, and the forums are a very important part of this.

FAQ #565: You prohibit the submission of 'pornographic material'; what do you consider this to be?
Only fools are enslaved by time and space.
Let's put our 3D glasses on, hop in the TARDIS, and go to a magical island with time traveling bunnies on it; shall we?
