Weekly Help Desk Updates - June 20th, 2008Introduction
Welcome to the weekly Help Desk Updates. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date news concerning the Help Desk & FAQ, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.
V6 FAQ Sticky
As most users know by now version 6 is being beta tested like crazy and will soon come to a monitor near you. With this in mind I should note that some things in the FAQ will be out of whack as we go through and cleanup all entries needing removal or editing. We do apologize for this, should it cause you any inconvenience.
Hexe's Corner
Weekly updates will be on hold for a bit, but will resume July 17th, 2008. I personally apologize for this, but it is hard for me to post these while visiting NY.
Regarding the new Firefox release, if you are like me and do not like the new supersized address bar then give
this addon a whirl.
If you're beta testing v6 you will notice that in the Edit Settings & Profile page there is now a warning of possible Avatar, Lit. Tag and Website Button delay when uploading a new or resetting an image file.
Ewm's Corner
With the nearing of deviantART v6 and Firefox's recent update to version 3 I would like to take the time to discuss User-based scripts and CSS for journals.
Recently with the update of the Edit Journal page, it revealed an
issue with certain CSS styled journals. This issue itself ended up being a user end issue that was easily corrected by making sure all of the HTML and CSS coding was done properly. With this in mind, as deviantART makes updates to its own code you may also need to make changes to your own coding in order to make sure everything works and looks like you want it to.
Updates to the deviantART code and browser updates can also cause your user-based scripts to not work exactly how they did previously. Since these user-based scripts are not officially created by deviantART we cannot provide support on how to fix the codes. However, you can contact the person who originally coded your scripts and they can work on fixing it so it is compatible with the latest coding of deviantART and the latest version of your browser.

Programming Forum.

Hello deviants! This week I'd like to send out a quick reminder of how important it is for you to contact us through the
Help Desk and not through notes or comments on administrators' personal accounts. A Help Desk ticket is an official log of your inquiry, containing all the little important details and information we need to solve your case quickly and efficiently. This includes information such as your browser and opterating system; details we need to know from time to time for certain cases. Notes and comments don't have the inquiry filing services the Help Desk does. Notes (and comments on accounts more prone to large amounts of userpage activity) can get lost in the wild recesses of our message centers, buried under the oodles of messages that come into our accounts everyday. Aside from the important information Help Desk tickets collect, filing a Help Desk ticket is the more appropriate thing to do, as it's easier for us to track a ticket than it is to track a note or comment.... It is rumored, however, that $
lolly enjoys notes that remind him to bake fresh cookies for every deviant who shouts his name from the rooftops.

Stykera's Corner
Hello there, deviants.

During your time here, you will no doubt make new friends and attract the interest of those who take an interest in your artwork. When someone
devwatches you, or "adds you as a friend" as they say elsewhere on the Internets, you receive a notification in your message centre, which most people will delete after reading.
However, you may quickly lose track of who is devwatching you, and quite understandably so. Is there a way, you ask, to find out who is watching me?
Why, yes, there is! Behold the "Recent Watchers" box in the left-hand column of your main user page. Here you will see the names of the twenty most recent users to have devwatched your account. Furthermore, if you have more than twenty watchers you click the "Complete List" link at the bottom of this box for a pop-up window containing a list of everyone who is watching you, in reverse order, along with the date they started watching. Handy!
Note that if nobody is watching your account, the Recent Watchers box will not show on your page. Never fear!
Become active in the community and soon it will appear!
Weekly Tip
The makers of Firefox have recently released Firefox 3.0!

Devious Comments
If you can get past it (and it will quickly become obvious the more you use it), you'll end up with one hell of a web browser.
It's also important to note that Opera recently updated, too.
