I enter a short commercial break in my scriptwriting month to deliver some very important news. This is about an organisation which is very important to me, and could be important to many others out there.


Harmless need you!


Self harm is something which a lot of people have many misconceptions about. Those who perhaps have little or no experience in the issue like to follow the stereotypes that surround it and those who do experience it often suffer in silence because they don't know where to seek help.

Harmless is user-led non-profit organisation based in the UK, that is working towards providing support, information, training and awareness to those affected by self harm. These include not only people who are self harming, but friends, families, teachers and professionals who may seek support and information.

Harmless is run by a team of experienced and extremely friendly people. They have contacted me to assist them in a project which I feel could be made stronger by the artistic talents of deviantArt. As part of their information DVD, and recently launched website, they are looking for pieces of writing which could encourage and support those who are in need or messages of survival.

Poetry and Short stories will be accepted, with those pieces which contain the qualities they are looking for being used in the DVD and on the site.

The rules for submission have been confirmed by Harmless to fit their requirements...


To submit a piece:


1. Please ensure you revise your piece. Redrafting is key to good quality after all. If you are submitting a piece that is slightly older, this will be essential.

2. Harmless are not seeking works directly about Self harm. They are seeking pieces that offer something positive for those reading. Please keep this in mind when submitting.

3. Send you pieces in a NOTE to `Beccalicious, who will pass these on to be decided by the Harmless team.

4. The successful pieces will be informed and Harmless will require your name, and brief person description, similar to what literary zines request.

5. `Beccalicious will announce the successful pieces. These entrants will receive a free copy of the DVD.

6. The deadline for these submissions is the 1st July, midnight GMT


It is time to break the cardboard image and realise that behind, there is a person.
