Vexelicious: The Features #15

^Jules1983:iconJules1983: reports, 2d 12h ago
This is the fifteenth Vexelicious feature article. As the name suggests, this article will be all about vexels. It is divided into three parts: DD's given in May and April, Vexels uploaded in May and April, and Themed Vexels.

What a Vexel Is: The Official dA Definition

^Jules1983:iconJules1983: reports, July 7
Influenced by recent dispute, it has been decided that it is time to make a solidified definition of what a vexel is by deviantART's terms. Please understand that this definition, and the rules along with it, are not made up from a few of the gallery moderator's thoughts, but built from the foundation of what the creator's words on 'vexel' were, and what the majority of the vexel community of deviantART has come to accept as a vexel. These rules are solid, final, and most-likely will not be faltered.

Onomatopoeia Contest

`misskittyoooo:iconmisskittyoooo: reports, June 23, 2008
Comic Artists and Cartoonists can both account for the many important elements of the comic genre. This is a form of art relying on expression, line movement, perspective, and unity to create a believable action-filled story without the aid of film or animation. The Artist use visual media alone to take their audiences through a story. There is nothing short of amazing about this process.

When we crack open the “Funnies” section of the newspaper—or log on to our favorite web comic, we sometimes take for granted one of the most important elements in a comic sequence…….the audio!...... What? Comics don’t make sounds! No—wait! They do!!

I’m talking about the “BOOM!”s – the “SPLAT!”s and the “THWAK!”s! Yes that’s right—a funny thing we call Onomatopoeia!

Every comic you see has some form of Onomatopoeia. When telling a story—or even a short, slap-stick skit—Comic Artists use the art of making sounds with words all the time! And even more importantly; the artist syncs the action to the sound with great expression!

Now it’s your turn! :eyes: We want to see your best Onomatopoeia! Not just the best—but the most creative way to present it! Get your pencils and ink ready…..It’s time for C&C’s Creative Onomatopoeia Contest!

:comic: THE OBJECTIVE

Using Traditional / Digital / Mixed Media/ Photography or Photo-manipulation, (any type of Visual art!), Create a scene in which you can present your onomatopoeia. You may create a short strip leading up to your action OR a one panel comic. Here are a few examples below.

:comic: THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

  • Your entry should have characters (or subjects/objects) interacting with the onomatopoeia.

  • Please no Sexually-Explicit Mature Content.

  • You can work with Animal or Anthro characters as well. What is Anthro?[link]

  • Feel free to invent your own sound effects—or revamp your own version of a classic sound!

  • Entry must conform to deviantART submission policy
  • Have Fun!!!

  • :comic: WHAT THE JUDGES ARE LOOKING FOR…..

:bulletgreen: Unique and/or creatively portrayed Onomatopoeia.
:bulletgreen: Nice clean presentation of action
    :bulletgreen: Believability
    :bulletgreen: …but most importantly… Creativity!!!

    Sounds fun! :w00t!:

But I have a question; can it be of fanart characters as well, along with the sound effect? Or will have to be an original character(s) only? It was just a curious question... :slow:
