lolly:iconlolly: reports, December 11, 2007
We apologize for the downtime you experienced today. It would seem some Christmas elves got into the hardware and made a right mess of things.
In truth it was some unexpected maintenance downtime as we added two new load balancers to help handle growing traffic.

Word Clouds from your deviantART Journal!

$micahgoulart:iconmicahgoulart: reports, June 26
Wordle.net has a great feature where you upload the text from anything and it will create a neat word cloud based on the frequency of the words found in the text.

You can change the colors, layouts, maximum number of words, fonts etc. Very, very cool.

I wanted to base it on something personal so I got all the text from my deviantART journals, going back to 2003, and uploaded it to see the results.

The good news is that now subscribers can make your own word cloud based on your deviantART journal using the feed available to subscribers at [link]

Below is one based on my journal and some others by deviants:

You can even base it off your own writing:

or the comments on your most popular deviation:

Enjoy!

To do this I had to copy and paste all the comments into one large text file and it took ages. Is there an easier way to collate the comments just as you've done with the full text journal?

Also is this something dA could build in as a feature for our journals?

Converted it from PDF to JPEG in Adobe Acrobat then adjusted the colour in PS CS3 and saved it as a PNG, uploaded it to Image Shack and used their code to put it in my journal :D

Hope that helps
