An interview with ex-GD, writer, editor, fascinating person: `GeneratingHype. Here are some tidbits from the interview (which I recommend reading in full):

"Letters presuppose a sort of authenticity, and I truly believe that a story—no matter the form—needs to be authentic and believable.

"Sometimes I wish I had stories such as "I wrote my first published poem at three and a half!" or "I started writing stories at two!", but writing never came easy for me and is still not very easy for me.

The Use of Adverbs in Fiction Writing

=DarcKnyt:iconDarcKnyt: reports, August 29
Adverbs are the endangered species of the adult fiction world. They're frowned on like putting a Baby Ruth bar in a punch bowl at a wedding reception -- not a good idea. They're also indicative of weak writing ... but why? This article covers why adverbs are evil and what you can do to avoid using them.

Mightier Than the Sword

=Francine1991:iconFrancine1991: reports, June 27
Reading is a fantastic way to evoke emotion, imagination and inspiration. Sadly, a great many fantastic writers remain hidden and unknown on DeviantART – here are a few spectacular pieces you've been missing out on!

Got a certain style you prefer to read? Have a quick look at the preview lines to whet your appetite (all preview lines carry the same strict copyright as their original pieces).

From :iconalmalobana:

Dark: [link]

Don’t let him in
To your room,
To your mind,
To your body.

Heaven's Artist: [link]

I could paint for you all the stars at night,
Celestial fires, forever burning bright.

From :icondrowningpictures:

Alone on a Saturday Night: [link]

Is it me, everyone else, or no one, just life
I keep counting the clock to rest for the next round

In the rain I never felt: [link]

I can still see though, it’s a beautiful brush stroke
That doesn’t allow an illusion to think it’s real

From :iconm-playc3ll:

Gaze: [link]

I have tasted
the soignée presence

Him: [link]

I stood; the bystander,
every hero needs a clapper

From :iconriencuran:

Our Demise: [link]

and the forsythia fades
from the venomous air.

Jigsaw:

His eyes were bloodshot red, as he wept tears of fire, each one leaving a scorch mark down his jigsaw skin, and intensifying his anguish.

From :iconarrancarsemiazas:

For Valentines: [link]

Cool plains swish in the approaching zephyr
And my ears prick up as they hear a goddess.

From :iconsakanoue:

Seville oranges and Mortality: [link]

She should be beautiful in the morning glow. But I can never tell from my spot so far away. I watch her sip at her coffee, a demure viper.

From :icondkegerreis:

Duet of Blood: [link]

The man in blue, the one who was playing the second part in this duet of blood, dipped down, lifting his own heavy blade to provide the second note of the ringing chord

From :iconweakandweary:

masochism: [link]

cackling between my breasts
ripping at my dress

From :icontalescaper:

Canvas, Glass, Mirror: [link]

A cold stale draft floated past him. It was the air of rooms that had not been opened for ages. It reminded him briefly of tombs in which ancient treasures were found.

From :iconem-j-akahana:

Swallow you down: [link]

Dazed and confused I try to make sense of where I am, I don’t really remember functioning up to this point. Up to the point I fed from her.

From :iconleahconnor:

fall through the seasons: [link]

Down she fell, to where the wingless fall,
clutching the feathers she ripped with her hands;
so began the journey of an immortal soul
in search of redemption to uncharted lands.

From :iconorphicfiddler:

By The Side Of The Stones: [link]

And with dark eyes fixed close on her gold hair so near
He withdrew from its sheath a scintillant knife
And kissing her neck with a touch that could sear
He promised her softly she’d soon be his wife

From :iconkeraness:

Changing Channels: [link]

Time machine warps replay clips from retro movie scenes,
skipping all the happy endings, prompting a climax.

From :iconnose-dive:

0. Not Just Yet: [link]

Heaven in a bottle, at least my kind.
It's not hard to be happy when you're living in your mind.

I hope you enjoy this little collection; fave it to show your love to the writers of DeviantART – and contact me if you'd like to be featured in the next edition.
