THEME
I want to see a lot of creativity, so I'll give you two themes. You don't need to draw both of them, one is good enough for me, but as I stated before, creativity played a really great role.
First theme: School Life
Basically, draw your original characters during their school days. Any level of school (kindergarten, grade school, middle school, or high school, but NOT university) is fine but it must be clearly seen that they were still in school. (P.S.: I left university out because I think university life and school life are very different).
Second theme: Love
This will be a broader choice of theme, as the form of "love" does not solely represent "lovers". There are a lot of kind of "love" that you can see. Of course couples are allowed, but you can still expand the theme, such as siblings, parents, etc. So, draw your original characters with a lot of love in it.
There will be no limitations on the genre as long as it is still your own drawing. In other words, you can make illustration, comic strip, but NOT flash. Also it'd be better if you state in the artist's comments what actually they are doing, since I want to avoid misunderstanding as much as possible.
Sample entry:
Please note that I'm combining both of the themes. You don't have to do that, you can simply choose which theme would be best for you.
RULES
1. NO FANART since this is an original character contest.
2. Draw your OWN characters, at least one. More is better but not necessary.
3. Submission is limited to 2/participant.
4. Collab is not allowed.
5. Entries have to be colored
6. Entries have to be submitted AFTER July 1st
7. Entries doesn't contain yaoi/yuri/ecchi/porn/hentai.
8. Background is a must.
9. State in your artist's comment what they are doing. They have to do something together (not posing!)
10. Be CREATIVE
