First things first: where were we?

Sometimes clubs and projects fall behind because staff members have Real Life Stuff that takes priority. It was as simple as that for us last month. Our main administrator has been much absent, but fear not! *ThornyEnglishRose and new staff member ~wonderfulrachel will be stepping in until such time as she returns. We apologise for our lack of activity, and hope to make it up to you now.

Staff Positions



Welcome to the team, ~wonderfulrachel! Whilst she doesn't have an official title or duty yet, we shall be entering into talks soon, because I know I am going to need her help! Earlier today =illuminara informed me that she had to leave the staff due to real life priorities, so this lady came along at just the right time. She is wonderful indeed.

If anyone else is interested in helping us out, please note the club. I can't say at this stage exactly what will happen; you might simply be assigned some emergency duties with no particular position or title. Again, we'll be waiting for the return of our administrator.

Finally, please join me in wishing =illuminara well. I'm sure she'll still be around dA, and hopefully submitting pieces to *simplyprose (please!), but she won't be working behind the scenes anymore. If you ever do want to come back, =illuminara, then please note the club and say so.

We must apologise for the delay in responding. Take the same excuses as above - but I think we've answered everyone now who required a response. If we have overlooked anyone, then please do note us again.

June Submissions

We had only two pieces sent to us this month, almost certainly because there were no June prompts. You were invited to go back to any of our earlier prompts that you chose, and it was ~SadisticIceCream who furnished our inbox in June.



May's Miscellaneous Prompt: A Surrealist Figure



'She Dreamt in Grey' is a piece of true beauty. Like so many of the responses to this prompt that we received, it has elements of poetry. It is also a very short piece - definitely worth a minute of your time!

'But the faces of the people, all of them, are in varying shades of grey. Some are like dust; others are like storm clouds; still others are the palest blush of silver.'

March Miscellaneous Prompt: Immortality



'Atlas' is a piece in the same vein as 'She Dreamt in Grey', with its succinct use of beautiful poetic language. It also contains a poignant message that had me nodding along as I read. This piece comes highly recommended.

'I have seen all the ages of man, and I will see those to come. I am far wiser, but that gift comes too late.'

July's Prompts

And now, perhaps, the moment you've all been waiting for. The new set of prompts! The usual rules apply: take whatever inspiration you like from these prompts, send links to your submissions in a note to *simplyprose and then be featured by us!

Scenario Prompt:

An estranged relative suddenly invites the whole family to dinner.

Character Prompt:

This character is a man or a woman who used to be married, but isn't anymore. He or she has no children, but a close relationship with a niece or nephew.

Word Association Prompt:

Write a piece of prose containing the following three words:

Kitten, beach, wish.

Miscellaneous Prompt:

One word: ice. Write a piece that somehow involves ice, either in the literal sense of frozen water, or in the metaphorical sense.

Again, the absence of our administrator has slowed things down. However, we will hopefully enter into discussion with the literature gallery directors very soon and then things should get moving. I know that sounds vague, but I daren't make any promises! When the contest is up and running, we'll let you know.
