How to Credit Stock Art

*ladydetemps:iconladydetemps: reports, July 2
So you're new, you've seen the lovely photo-manipulations around and decided to have a go. You go in search of stock find the elements you need and put together a dev. An post.
Now stop, think have you credited the stock artists?
If the answer is no, then let me inform you how to credit the artists.

Step 1:
'collect' the various pieces of stock art to a stock folder in your favs.
(This is personal preference because I have the habit of forgetting what stock I've used)

Step 2:
Read the Stock Artists RULES. This should prevent you annoying them by breaking rules. Of course if there's anything you don't understand most stockists will answer your questions..they're not ogres. ;)

Step 3:
In your artists comments when you post the dev is where you put the credit.
There are several ways to credit. So if your not sure use all three at once (at least then your covered). Its nice if you say what element comes from where like the model comes from a certain stock and the background another etc.

1. using the 'icon' e.g. model -:iconelandria: (is you don't know how to make the icon show up you have to do :'icon' name: without the speach marks)
2. using the name =CausticStock (is you don't know how to make the link name show up you have to do :'dev' name: without the speach marks)
3. Link back to the stock picture itself

Step 4:
Let the stock artists know you've used the stock. Some will comment and even fav your piece.

I hope this has been of use :)

Great article :)

One trick for future articles and sample names like :dev: names or :icon: names to show up in written form is to interrupt the name with one of the BB codes used on the site (like bold or italic) so when you type:

:dev<makebold></makebold>Ghost-Stock:

it will show up as :devGhost-Stock:
