Hi everyone! Im so happy to finally show you all the results of my search for polyptychs. For those of you who dont know (and dont feel bad when I started my search, I had no idea what this type of image presentation was called), polyptychs are works of art that are composed of 2 or more parts, which are usually separated by clear boundaries. Wikipedia
[link] says that polyptychs are usually paintings, but Ive found that it has become popular among photographers as well, especially on deviantART.
The term polyptych is very general
the more specific definitions are diptych (2 parts), triptych (3 parts), tetraptych (4 parts), pentaptych (5 parts), hexaptych (6 parts), heptaptych (7 parts), and octaptych (8 parts). Diptychs and triptychs are fairly common in photography, but as you can see below, tetraptychs and up are less common. I found many of the 4-parts-and-up works just by browsing, because actually searching for them by their specific name was useless. So, since they are fairly rare, they are even more fun to find and collect.

I became interested in polyptychs because they are such a useful and interesting way to present art. They can be used to show time lapses, to enhance one image with another, for a kaleidoscope effect, or even to tell a story. Its been a lot of fun working on this feature, and I hope that youll find some new favorites in this collection. I tried to include some artists who are lesser known, so if you find something you like, favorite or comment it, and give these wonderful artists some love! Also, if you like this news article, dont forget to favorite it. Enjoy!

Ok, so there you have it! I'm a bit disappointed that I don't have more 5 part or 6 part works to share with you, but I might do a second volume if I happen upon more of this kind of work (and I'm sure I will).
