Hi folks! I just wanted to pop in here to let you all know about an art contest that's now running on DA!

It's for the online manga, Star of Destiny (www.starofdestiny.com), written by myself and drawn by the awesome *meomeoow, and both first and second prizes can win a Nintendo DS Lite! There's even a good chance of the prizes being improved or more prizes being added, if there are enough entries.

Contest Details

As I said before, this contest is for the online manga known as Star of Destiny. It's a theme-based art contest, where contestants have to draw a scene using characters from Star of Destiny that portrays a theme or idea. There are a few ideas in the journal, but the contest is open to most ideas.

Never heard of Star of Destiny and don't know the characters? Well, there is a lot of information up on the website! You also don't need to start with a theme. You can just find a character you like, read about them, and then build a theme around them. You can use virtually any character from the story, even those who are only mentioned yet have no profile (So long as you can get a grasp of what would fit them)!

There are a few limitations for the contest, though.

- No explicit content is allowed (For example, sexual content is not allowed)
- Characters should look like they do in the manga or official artwork. If the character doesn't have a look yet, then you're allowed to create your own design for them, so long as you take into consideration racial limitations (For example, while the story does use elves, they aren't like elves found in typical fantasy stories. Elven folk have dark red hair, shoulder length (With a bit longer for females) and do NOT have pointed ears. They also have some style requirements, which you'll be able to see on one particular piece of an elven character).

There are currently prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place:

1st Place - A Nintendo DS Lite (Your choice of colour, depends on availability) & two DS games of your choice (So long as they are under $50 each before taxes), OR a cash prize of $180

2nd Place - A Nintendo DS Lite (Your choice of colour, depends on availability), OR a cash prize of $100

3rd Place - A two year subscription to deviantART, OR a cash prize of $50

As I said before, these prizes might improve (Originally I wanted 1st place to be a Nintendo Wii, but I don't quite have the money to go that far), but that depends on the number of entries and my income (If you're interested and want to see better prizes, just go to the Star of Destiny website and look around the top area of the page. I'm sure you'll see SOME way of helping.

The duration of the contest is currently undecided. It will be open until the end of October, at the least.
