What is a photomanipulation?
according to the dictionary Photo manipulation is the application of image editing techniques to photographs in order to create an illusion or deception (in contrast to mere enhancement or correction), through analog or digital means.
I couldn't agree more with this.
Some people seem to think that taking a photo of, for example an eye and then changing the colour would count. This is not so. A photomanipulation is a photo that has been drastically changed. If the photo was an eye, and then say a stock image os a butterfly had been repeated around it, this would count.

Photo manipulation is often much more explicit than subtle alterations to color balance or contrast and may involve overlaying a head onto a different body or changing a sign's text, for example. Image editing software can be used to apply effects and warp an image until the desired result is achieved. The resulting image may have little or no resemblance to the photo (or photos in the case of compositing) from which it originated.[link]

I decided to run a forum to try to find some really good photo manipulations.
Originally I was only going to feature 20 artworks. but I came across so many good ones I have to share them all.
Some of these are very popular and you might have no doubt seen them before. Others have gone unnoticed. I suggest that more attention should be given to those unnoticed artworks and their creators.
And of course who can forget the stock images that are used to create the wonderful pieces. Give some love and support to the stock artist too
