An interview with ex-GD, writer, editor, fascinating person: `GeneratingHype. Here are some tidbits from the interview (which I recommend reading in full):

"Letters presuppose a sort of authenticity, and I truly believe that a story—no matter the form—needs to be authentic and believable.

"Sometimes I wish I had stories such as "I wrote my first published poem at three and a half!" or "I started writing stories at two!", but writing never came easy for me and is still not very easy for me.

The Use of Adverbs in Fiction Writing

=DarcKnyt:iconDarcKnyt: reports, August 29
Adverbs are the endangered species of the adult fiction world. They're frowned on like putting a Baby Ruth bar in a punch bowl at a wedding reception -- not a good idea. They're also indicative of weak writing ... but why? This article covers why adverbs are evil and what you can do to avoid using them.

Mightier Than the Sword III

=Francine1991:iconFrancine1991: reports, July 8
Reading is a fantastic way to evoke emotion, imagination and inspiration. Sadly, a great many fantastic writers remain hidden and unknown on DeviantART – here are a few spectacular pieces you've been missing out on!

This is the second in my series of features, and I'm really please with what I've found. :) If I featured you last time and you're not here this time, it's generally because I'm trying to get as much variety as possible – not because I've gone off your work!

Got a certain style you prefer to read? Have a quick look at the preview lines to whet your appetite (all preview lines carry the same strict copyright as their original pieces).

From :iconamaranthineries:

Subtext [link]

trusted in the opposites
to leave you asphyxiated,
trusted in the grace
of opiates.

Business in The Trade [link]

For it's true that she lies dead center
in the Sea of Normalcy and
Bought Insecurity,

From :iconjanel1707:

Pick Your Sin [link]

I am your mind filled with hate, fueled by pain
I am your body bent by lust, driven by desire
Demonic

From :iconthe-rogue-quill:

A Prevailing Lie [link]

The angles of your body pierce my heart with fangs
I almost see them, but you hypnotize me,
and I see only your rouged face,

From :icondisapperingvapour:

Shattered Promises [link]

After a while, she started to relax, thinking that the woman had maybe given up… but what did that mean for the rest of the girls? Would the same thing happen to them? She’d already realized, with a crushing dread, what had happened to the other girls.

From :icondarknessunknown:

Omega [link]

And the Earth grew weak and its pulse fell slow so the rulers created,
They made the world in all its glory to their own cruel hatred.

From :iconfizzleout:

The Invisible Girl [link]

she holds the moments,
all in fragile hands,
well trained,
like spiders,
dancing across her chosen instruments,

From :iconcoyotecaliente:

Darkened [link]

He continued walking. There it was again. Someone was following him. Whoever it was, he or she trying to keep in line with James' steps, but was doing a bad job.

From :iconundistilled:

Poetically Deviant [link]

There's crying people, people ranting
Threats of violence, threats of banning
Lots of people spamming notes
Beaten horses, lots of goatse

From :iconmdog02:

platitudes [link]

placating drek is being spewed
in horrid, vile platitudes:

From :iconbroadcraig:

Lessons For The Illiterate [link]

Humpty Dumpty the master of Rome
Humpty Dumpty fell from his throne,
Gasp! Gasp! The plot thickens here
Maybe the riddle was too unclear,

From :iconpearlheart:

Love poem [link]

I followed my heart,
To see where it lead me,
Mauled me, fucked me, bled me,

From :icondtee-sawk:

A lesson [link]

Moments of pure innocent joy,
Of dinners with mam and when
Dad walks through the door

From :icondutchgirlie07:

Confessional [link]

Her eyes widened as she recognized me, and as her mouth opened slightly, she uttered one word with her final breath: ‘Why?’

From :iconmspaint-monkee:

Tanka 2 [link]

Deciphering thoughts,
Mind swirling on the breezes

From :iconzukoscute2:

I Am Your Child [link]

I am your child
As you slap me again
And show me cold hearted love

From :iconmackenzie001:

Intent to Indend [link]

I intend to intend to fix this
But later, much later, than now
I first must obtain the right mindset
But am quite baffled as to the How

From :iconwarrenisinsane:

Plain Breakfast [link]

This had been my morning routine for two years; I hardly tasted it anymore. After I was about halfway through my bagel, I thought, Maybe I should call in sick and do something of the cuff, something interesting.

From :iconunaccompanied-me:

Dabbling [link]

A motherly willow
weeps
For she sees, has seen, will see
throwing le a ve s
to the wind

From :iconwriters-live-on:

For all the Writers [link]

I am the broken hearted, the ecstatic, the dying. The tricked, the liar, and the past. I am the hate, the caress, and the future.

From :icondaghrgenzen:

Midsummer's Day [link]

Once again, shattered day-dreams,
memories brought the tears.

Will I, once more, sleep alone in the dark?
Will I, once more, weep alone in the dark?

I hope you enjoy these pieces... I really did; there's something to gain from all of them. :aww:

If you'd like to be considered for a feature in my next Mightier Than the Sword installment, contact me. :)
