One of the greatest misconceptions about Horror and Macabre Photography is that it must be dark. Darkness in concept and darkness in color are two very different things. What could be more fun than breaking through all the stereotypes and creating frightening horror art with brilliant and rich colors?
When I told someone that I wanted to discuss color theory in one of my articles, they laughed

Photography is not like painting, you don't get to mix paints. However, the thing is that horror art often (not always, but often) relies heavily on the visual impact of the photo and such things as complementary colors create a stunning visual impact.
Complementary colors are found on the opposite ends of the color wheel and many of them you'll see used often: Blue and red, Purple and green, etc. Despite their name, complementary colors contrast and increase the visual vibrancy of each other. Now, I won't give a full lesson about the importance of your color choices, you can read more about it in the below links (there's even a quiz to test how much you know!), but always keep in mind... horror doesn't need to revolve around the reds and blacks... there's a whole color palette waiting for you out there,
