Haha! Here we are again, ladies and gentlemen, with yet another exciting issue of Hidden Gems of Fan Art, the weekly feature that gathers fanart with fewer than 100 faves! Hidden Gems is an extra-suitable title for this week's feature, as we look at the treasure-hunting stars of the Pirates of the Caribbean films!

Possibly the first, and certainly the most successful, franchise to be based off of a theme park ride, Pirates of the Caribbean (Commonly acronymed as "POTC".) helped kick-start the world's newfound fascination with pirates, and of course, brought us the lovable drunk - and what pirate isn't - Captain Jack Sparrow, along with Elizabeth Swann, Will Turner, and a literal crew of other pirate personalities.

With the movies grossing nearly 3 billion dollars to date, and countless associated toys and games, (Including a rather handsome pinball machine.) POTC is without a doubt one of the biggest and brightest new fandoms around.



That was TOTALLY AWESOME. Lookit all them pirates.

Next week is going to be a Very Special Episode of Hidden Gems. No, we're not going to tackle any of society's problems . . . but we will be having an issue devoted to crossovers.

That's right, crossovers! The kind of series-meets-series antics that makes fanart so magical. Any and all fandoms are free to be represented in this issue. X-Files/Pokemon? Welcome. Eragon/Azumanga Daioh? Welcome. Resident Evil/Thundercats? DOUBLE welcome.
