Want to earn a year subscription to DA? Here's your chance!

I’m hosting a web design contest for my beadwork site. I’ve been searching for over a year for the perfect design but although I come close - nothing ever fits exactly! So I’d love to give all of you here on DA the chance to get creative! You do NOT have to know how to code – just how to create a beautiful design!

First, you’ll need to visit the site so you can get a feel for what it is all about. It is an ecommerce site for beadwork. Please at least read the about us page and the dedication – as those are two very important pages for the ‘feel’ of the site.

The beadwork site was started by my goddaughter, Katie, and I in 1999 as a way to showcase our designs and to sell our products. Sadly, Katie passed away 2 years ago from a tragic car accident. I have changed the site so many times but nothing ever feels quite right and I want to incorporate a couple of different elements into the final design – dreaming & dragonflies.

Contest Specifics:

This contest is not for the CSS or coding. I can do that myself. What I need is the overall design and specific web elements. Therefore, these mediums will be accepted:

•Digital art
•ainting & Airbrushing
•Traditional art
•Drawing & Illustration
•hotomanipulations
•Vexel/vector
•hotography

Contest will begin on July 10th and end on August 31st. Submit the thumb of your overall webpage design image to me via note with the title “Sacred Dreams Contest Entry”. You must include in your deviation notes that your work has been created for the Sacred Dreams Website Design Contest with a link back to this article.

Winning artist must be willing to sign a written agreement that the design will be used solely by Sacred Dreams Custom Beadwork, a.k.a. Debra Mills, but artist will retain the full copyright of the design and will be given credit on the site for the design as well as a link back to his/her site or gallery

Judges:

Design Requirements (necessary):

1. Overall design page (which will be what you submit as your deviation)
2. Specific elements needed (will be emailed to me once the winner has been chosen):
• Masthead/logo
• Background/ Home Page
• Main Nav bar buttons & Subnav bar buttons (blank or with the ability to edit the text)
• Banner (for promotions on other website)
• Product page (for displaying products – this can be the same as using a background/masthead or it can be a separate page that is slightly different)

The way I envision is to have on unique home page look, then to have the rest of the pages look similar. You can kind of see through browsing the site what is needed. The site used to be very image heavy but I’m going to have to get around that, as I can no longer afford to pay for extra storage and bandwidth.

Design must contain these elements in any fashion you choose:
• Dragonflies
• Dreaming or dreamlike quality (could be night sky, could be abstract, something to tie in with Sacred Dreams)
• Colors preferred in any combination (but not mandatory): blue/green, gold, black, white, purple

Since this is a beadwork site, a Native American theme (i.e. beads, dreamcatchers, dancers, etc) would be great, but totally not necessary. Tribal designs are always good, too!

Prizes:

At this time, there will be only one winner. Winner will receive a 1 year subscription to DA. (More prizes coming!) The winning website chosen will be used as my final website design.

Disclaimer: Since this IS for my website, I do reserve the right NOT to choose a winner if none of the designs entered seem to fit what I envision and need. In this case, I WILL choose the top three designs and each one will win a 3-month sub.
