The "Show Them You Love Them contest" is to benefit and raise awareness for the abused and unwanted animals you find in shelters worldwide. We are trying to help show the DA community the love that we pet owners have for our animals, and the pain and desolation of those lonely few who roam the streets without love and affection. This contest is open to everyone, whether you have an animal or not, and has two divisions: Amateur and Professional. Though it is photography (petography to be more specific) only! The Grand Prize is a 3 year subscription, monetary donations to humane societies within North America, a free print, 3 news articles and nearly 40 journal features!

This contest has received a fantastic amount of acclaim and has been sponsored by multiple clubs within the DA community! Please love this article if you support this contest and help spread the word by advertising in your journal! The ~staring-at-you-club is having a contest for our club I.D. The contest end on January 5 2010. We have a small number of entries, so the competition is not all that tough.

Artistic Nudes Mini-Contest: Show Us Your Palette

What?



Make an Artistic Nude photo that is coloured and, at the same time, represents your idea of the colours you chose. You have to incorporate at least 1 colour from your palette and a maximum of 7. Your palette is basically any existent colour in this world and beyond.


When?


Begins: 14.july (from midnight GMT Lisbon)
Ends: 18.July (until (23h59 GMT Lisbon)


How?



There are some rules:

1. you cannot make it a black and white photo;

2. you must choose at least 1 colour and a maximum of 7 and stick with them, but choose carefully, it is very hard to use many clashing colours in an effective way.

3. just a coloured photo isn’t enough, the idea here is you to show us how you can make a photo in colours that REPRESENTS colours, so if you just tone the photo in post-processing, PS or something like that it won’t work because that will give you only one colour: the tone colour.

4. the photo must be NEW and NEVER submitted to deviantART!!! If it isn’t new it’ll be disqualified without warning!

5. Submit it into Artistic Nudes gallery and follow the guidelines of said gallery and please do not forget that it also must comply with dA’s rules. After submitting it send me the link to the photo in a note or to this news article (in a comment).

6. Be BOLD, be ORIGINAL and above all: HAVE FUN!!!



Here are some examples of what I understand for coloured photos that depict an idea of COLOR:

Well, 4 days is not much of a timeline to set something like that up, but I do have some new models coming in this week so maybe I'll amp up one room of the studio in a color scheme.
