As part of the Project Educate Artistic Nudes Segment Week (14-18 July 2008) I present you the ABC's of the Artistic Nudes Gallery!

Artistic Nudes: Your opinion, please?

In the end, there is nothing that can be done without you, so this time the ABC’s aren’t about what I or the dA staff members deem to be Artistic Nude, but what you find within it and about it! I hope this will be entertaining and interesting to everyone as it was to me!


Your opinion:

says: I think that the body can talk, so I see the human naked body as a different way to express inner feelings.

says: It does not mean to put a 50$ digital cam between your legs and see what happens.

says: I have always believed that nudity in art can be a way of simplifying the beauty of the human body, also it can be a great way to express emotion in an image (as not much beats the body language of the nude form).

says: the art of using a body as a thing without give it a vulgar meaning or take the soul off of it

says: Any photo of a nude person taken with artistic intent, even if its not brilliantly executed, so long as it doesn't involve penetration or masturbation, but I also believe porn can be photographed artistically.

says: First of all, it's something really difficult to obtain! For the photographer, I feel that capturing beauty or plain artistic moods from the models is pretty hard.
So I must say that Artistic Nude is that sort of art that must be praised and dignified by everybody! It's art everywhere and always.

says: Photography with the naked human body as it's main subject, or the photographic illustration of a concept using the naked human body.
That sounded horrible cold and scientific. I think artistic nude photography is a powerful thing because the naked human body can portray such contrasting feelings of vulnerability and strength at the same time.

says: A rare beast is the Artistic Nude, often found wandering in stark boxes with lights in odd places. I see them now and then, but capture is difficult, at most its a fleeting glance, a moment in time that vanishes as the shutter clicks. Sometimes its the human condition, others its the condition of a human. Is the nude a natural or unnatural expression of the nature of man? Perhaps its both, a dance of pure joyous freedom being nude in the natural world, and mirror to being naked in the tangled morass of society and culture.
Each has their message, their interest and their depth. Naked feeds the animal with in, as varied as there are viewpoints. Nude touches deeper, feeding the soul if only one can open their eyes, their mind, and their prejudice and allow the beauty of their own species to flood over them, even if that beauty is pain.

Many pictures I've seen have unnatural poses and the model doesn't appear happy. I hope one day humans everywhere can be happy about their bodies and celebrate together in harmony.

It is more than just "naked women"
It is never nudity for the sake of nudity
It is a human at their most raw

It has deeper purpose than sexual arousal
and yet
It is sometimes sexual, but in a manner that challenges rather than panders...
It shows us who we are... and who we may be...
It is...
Artistic.

Beauty:

It is international and it is a concept grasped since childhood – a combination that makes it very difficult to explain and, especially, to agree about. There are numerous attempts to define beauty. We have the aesthetics view, the semiotics, the poetic, the transgressive… each one is right and wrong at the same time: right for each one of us and wrong for everyone. Kant’s wish was that we all lived in the realm of the ends, where everything we did was an end in itself and not a mean to an end. He also said that in order to grasp a more practical reason within our laws we should put ourselves in the other’s mental shoes. This is the same to say that he thought and believed that no one should be obligated to correspond to a law that wasn’t universally accepted. This, in theory, should originate the perfect society… thing is, there are no universal laws, not even the concept of motherly love is universal! There are social groups where such a thing is not even named nor recognized!

So, how can we define beauty? I’d say by acceptance of our differences, of the plurality of beauty’s forms…

This way, we’d be breaking the moulds, which is one of the movements within deviantART and the Artistic Nudes gallery (thus community)!

Your community, Your Choice… is the slogan of a series of articles that crosses galleries here in dA. It began in a very simple way and soon took the form for which it is known nowadays: articles posted by the Artist Relations Team, but first and foremost done by you; articles where we can find your choices from the galleries, features that are meant to reach a wider audience than just one’s devwatch networking.

This is just one of the ways the community has to show its importance!
