reports, July 15, 2008This is a very special feature, honoring all countries' firefighters, police officers (including the FBI), members of the American Red Cross, and EMT's. This article is very special because the last of such articles was how I met the love of my life ~firefighter023, who has helped me through so much and to whom my heart belongs to forever. 
So, without further ado, here is a very special feature of some very talented artists, written in honor of those who save lives and protect lives every day.

Fallen
And, in honor of the fallen firefighters & EMT's out there:
Bliss in the minds of the sleeping calm
Unaware that somewhere another breath is extinguished
Rising moon plays eerie memories
Ghosts singing soft harmony
Remembering wistfully each and every name
Wavering lantern lights the way for each and every fallen soul
Bring them home, bring them in to heaven's open arms
Remember, remember the fallen
Flickering in the cool shade an eternal flame
So long as the bells ring and toll
In silent revere the flame will blaze for the fallen
For our fallen brethren
For the fallen heroes
For the fallen firefighters
In memory the flame lives on.
Amidst the deathly calm the call is made
Riding out every day, every night
In spirit the dead will walk
Wisps of smoke raise a hand to salute
Even as they themselves take away another soul
Flames lick hungrily at the sky
Bourne on the wind the whisper, the voice,
The last thoughts cast heavenward
Last breaths stolen in the thickening haze
Limp as the soul rises invisible to the world left behind
A skeleton left, lifeless body all that remains.
Fatal fire calling forth from heavens above
Single flame unquenched til the last soul is taken
Burning eternally for the fallen
Melding soul and minds
In this be their final good bye.
Summer torrents rain down in mourning
Memories smoldering in the ash
Thin white sheet covering what was
Friend, parent, love, hope
Extinguished by the fire
Weeping, hugging, holding,
Shocked that this was their last call
Last call
Where the storms met the horizon
To fall under ash
Living in memory
Living as fire and to ash the new beginning to the final end
Here they say good bye
In you they live
Forever more
Final Flame
