Dich finden, ohne mich zu verlieren.
Mich Dir geben, ohne mich aufzugeben.
Dich verstehen, ohne mich zu übersehen.
So könnte es gehen.
I am inspired to write a commentary on the nature of people to react poorly to some types of photographic art. In a few words I would like to express my own opinion on the matter (which relates to the *isolation of the individual* concept that is very interesting to me).
It seems, to me anyway, that when an artist comes along with a talent for reaching beyond the sense of isolation we all have and for a moment makes us feel that we are at our deepest levels, after all, of the same mind, body and spirit that this feeling is very challenging to our sense of self.
A person who is well grounded in their own sense of self, in my opinion, takes this challenge as a breath of fresh air (much like a person who is not afraid to die is thrilled by horror movies, or sky diving perhaps) but a person who is not confident in their sense of self takes this challenge as a threat to identity, and it is there that the fear and personal attacks against the artist grow from.
Thank you for these interviews. Thank you for the inspiration to think beyond myself once again.
(I have had to substitue asterix for quotations in this piece because I am simply not smart enough to figure out how to put things in quotations - sorry)
