I posted on the forum asking people to show me their green deviations and I got a lot of very good green deviations. Please show your support for these artists by faving their art and faving this article.
Art is distinctively a product of imagination, of that faculty of the mind which has to do with perceiving images, the image of one thing in the form of another. While science, therefore, may find a single form interesting in itself, art, at its best, never does. It looks for another form with which the first may be compared

I recently came acrossan extremely talented traditional Artist called Jesse Lidsay. It has been a while since my jaw dropped on the floor like that because of someone's artwork. It's seriously incredible, it has fantasy organic lines and yet a macabre grungy twist that makes it all the more unique and with a rare beauty.
Hi Jesse, thank you so much for doing this interview, I'm very honored and happy to meet such an incredible talent. There's so much I want to ask I don't even know where to begin.
♥ Your artwork is seriously impressive, and you seem to focus mainly on imaginary/mythological creatures. When you were at school, did you use to have problems with the teachers who insisted that you kept your drawings and characters real?
lol, yeah,I failed art class in high school,2 years in a row.ironically i would do my friends art assignments for $10 each and they all got A's and A+'s while i was failing. One of them won a class contest with an image i did for her while i got an f on the same assignment, the whole class knew and thought it was hilarious. The more they demanded I kept my art friendly the more vulgar and disturbing images i would create, some times enough to get suspended. This prompted me to drop out as soon as it was possible. I used to have some photos of the walls where at least half the class had my drawings turned in and posted for the other classes to see, while i did mine left handed,in a moving car so they would suck as much as possible. It rocked.
♥ I've noticed that the wings you draw are extremely beautiful, and have a wonderful unique design, hypnotic really. Would you like to tell us what inspires such fluid, organic lines? Because many people are happy with just kinda recreating what others have done, but you took your creations to a whole new level.
Thanks a lot! Its a mix of things and each is a little different, primarily I use the structures of things like leaves, ivy, shells and the biological structures of plant defense mechanisms (thorns, toxins, etc) as a base idea from them as i want them to look realistic or functional as well as attractive, artistic and venomous. Nature has a way of communicating vast amounts of information in small shapes and designs,I want to mimic a lot of them in my art to try to echo the same ideas that small, highly poisonous critters do.
♥ The combination and fusing of organic, almost delicate lines and traces of your drawings with the grungy and dirty backgrounds is in my humble opinion, pure genius. When and how did you come up with such a great idea?
Um...I don't know, I want to take credit for it but its really jut something I think is attractive, I have a huge fascination with the way things decay, especially large structures and stone work. As a kid I would break in to abandoned buildings and camp in them, taking photos, drawing on the walls and trying to recreate the look of an eroded, half burned down wall or the years of vandalism that buildings accumulate. I still really like it,the textures found in nature rival anything i could ever create.
♥ And you also design tattoos, that's really really cool, congratulations. I always wanted to know, how do you feel when someone comes up to you and says "hey I wanna have something drawn by you on my body, and it's gonna be on my skin for the rest of my life". I mean that's gotta be a huge honor huh? Tell us about it.
Its a mixed feeling,at first it was amazing and a huge ego boost, but I'm kinda used to it. When I was 16 I moved to New Orleans for a while and I met people who had my work on them and it blew my mind as I moved there from Missouri and some how they connected. No its a little less impressive when someone picks an old image and gets it as I have moved past it talent wise and its impersonal to the person who gets it, I'd rather not see the same image on any 2 people, let alone dozens, i still really enjoy drawing up custom work for people.
♥ You have the talent to go very far in the artistic world, I have a feeling we will all be hearing great stuff from you, and seeing your work on da covers, books, .. Is there anyone you would particularly like to work for?
There's a lot of people I'd really like to meet but very few I'd like to work for, as there pretty set in there own persona's, I love doing commission work for up and coming bands and for things that are yet to hit a catalyst and would love to work with a few of my favorite artist and writers, but not for.
♥ I hear many artists complain that digital art is taking over many other forms of art, such as photography and painting. Do you think that here on dA traditional artists like yourself have been falling into being forgotten?
lol, I'll bet the same thing would have been said by cave artist when pencils where mass produced,or singers when speakers first came around. Digital art may be junk food, compared to aspects of traditional art,and I see a lot of people who rely on filters rather then talent, but that just means all other artist need to step up there skill level. Natural selections a bitch but it will always happen,in all environments. I use digital affects in all of my art, even the full scale paintings I photograph with a digital camera and I use computer programs to enhance or to add in things, or to clean up,etc. I don't think that its any different then any other tool that has come about. There are always people who disagree, they are called Amish. People seem to forget that art is more about the process of creation then anything else, when an artist looses sight of that they often start to decay in all aspects and become quite jaded.

I love how you do interviews with people. A few of the people on my dA watch come from these interviews. Keep it up.
