When browsing through the latest pictures around here, there are so many great pieces of art to find. Talented artists are publishing great work and inspiring each other to deliver better and better pictures. For me, this is what DeviantArt is all about. Using each others skill to grow as artists, or simply showcasing something we are proud of.

I have been around here for 6 years now, and have enjoyed discovering new and talented artists here everyday for all these years. I use a couple of hours on a daily basis to answer all my replies and look at the works of those I'm watching. When I've done this, I have usually spent about half an hour or fifteen minutes of my day. The next hour or so, usually goes away to greet new artists, read some news and look into the forums, but mainly I use the remaining time to look for new, good art.

The only problem is that there are so much (excuse my french) SHIT around here, that really belongs into scraps if it even belongs here at all.

I understand that people are at different stages in terms of skill and experience, and I know that a lot of artist around here would probably say that a lot of my work is also "good" enough to end up in scraps. And I don't mean that people should publish things in scraps just because it can't match the best pieces of work around here. But the difference as I see it, is that some pictures may not be grand or great at first glimpse, but the artist have used his or her skills to try to make something artistic out of it.

Someone around here seems to be using DeviantArt simply as a form of Facebook or MySpace. And I think that if you have to publish pictures of yourself beside some guy who has dressed up as a Pokemon or a Star Wars character, or picture of your friends drinking beer and having a good time, to post in you journal or something like that, you can be honest enough to post it in scraps. I think that people should reconsider when publishing, and ask themself; Have I tried to make this picture into an art piece, or is it just a snapshot taken at random from everyday life?!
