7 Ingredients Of Good Corporate Design

`manicho:iconmanicho: reports, October 8
A great article at Smashing Magazine that every designer should check. If you're into Coroporate Design, I'm sure you will find this info really useful.

It’s hard to define design. We have a broad range of definitions to choose from: design refers not only to graphic design, but to design strategy, too. It is used in a variety of industries, such as engineering, architecture and Web design.

This means that design is not just graphical in nature (which is a form of visual artistic representation), but also the planning of processes to achieve certain goals. Large corporations clearly understand this and incorporate every form of design into their strategy to achieve success.
For a good corporate design, we need to be aware of two main elements, which can be further broken down into a total of seven “ingredients”.

Notice to ALL stockers and users

=mizdestiny:iconmizdestiny: reports, July 22
As artists , stockers and users, we all agree to certain terms when we submit our work

You know that:

• dA has a problem with copyright theft?
• when you share stock that you acknowledge and agree to retaining some copyright while sharing some…
• you retain the right to restrict your stock being used on other sites or in prints etc…

WRONG

Apparently there is a loophole. On the stock image page, there is a tiny [i] button for information, and in that information is a statement which says this stock is entered into the public domain for incorporation into other work

What does that mean?

It means copyright theft is not defensible in a court of law because this statement says its freely given.

It also contradicts the dA submission agreement [link] which says the artist retains full ownership of their submissions FAQ #226: Does deviantART own my art?

After a long battle with dA to have the wording changed, `Elandria has removed all of her stock [link]

Maybe one artist alone cant make a difference, but I think a lot of artists will rethink their allegiance to dA if it doesn’t change this statement to support them. It needs to reflect the submission statement we agree to, some rights reserved or something similar is all it takes guys.

Petition dA to protect our stockists and our work. Without this, we give them everything.
Post a reply, show your support for our stock

I can see why this would piss people of it's very sad but maybe they are trying to make a point after all some of the stock holders on DA have some pretty steep rules for being "FREE STOCK".

Glad to hear that this is being looked at by staff. We are watching closely how this will play out and applaud `Elandria for bringing this to our attention and for making a stand. If it isn't resolved soon, we will not feel comfortable leaving our stock up either.

my fiance and i completely agree that no stock we put up is in the public domain, nor should it be, what about the stockers that put up pictures of their children or the models that are not legally adults in their countries? by stating that all stock on deviantart is in the public domain it is taking all rights of the photographer and those of the models also. with this statement no one has to notify the stock artist of use or give any notification of how they used the image they can change whatever they want put childen and minors in sexual, racist, violent, macabre and pornographic peices even if the stock artist expressly asked no one to do so-in short anyone anywhere can use our images and we have zero say in the matter. this brings me to another question; what about digital manipulations? they use the stock often are completely consisting of stock from deviantart and deviantart alone-so does this mean they are also in the public domain?

=mizdestiny:iconmizdestiny: Jul 23, 2008, 12:56:01 AM
There's a difference between free and unrestricted. Most artists request links because their work is usually changed and its just a way to say thank you - with some rights reserved.

But some give you the freedom of no restriction - free to print, use elsewhere and do as you wish. There are some here on dA. Try these:

I believe this only affects stocks, and all submissions are supposed to be covered by the submission policy. This is just a loophole that needs to be sorted.

And thats the point of bringing this to your attention, to protect and respect our stock =D

Thanks for supporting
