The newest Pixar film, WALL-E, has grossed $23.1 million on its opening day, and $63 million during its opening weekend in 3,992 theaters, ranking #1 at the box office. This ranks the third-highest-grossing opening weekend for a Pixar film as of July 2008.
The critics have sung alot of praise for the film, highlighting its wonderful animation (complete with inserts of live action sequences-the first for a Pixar film), great characters, and thought provoking lessons about the protection of the environment, and what it means to truly live. To that, I fully agree.
And I've just read in Entertainment Weekly, that the film is not only up for an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Picture, but could also be up for an Oscar for Best Picture. That's right; not just Best Animated-Best PICTURE.
Do you think WALL-E deserves all the praise it gets? And do you think it could also belong in the Best Picture category? Or should animated movies not cross the line?

Devious Comments
The story seemed a little... USED, from other Disney/Pixar films, and other popular film settings. That was a bit of a turn off for me to read, but still looks good
