Recently, and I mean in the last five minutes, I've seen a lot of BS on how to be "cool/popular/successful/whatever" on DA, and I'm officially sick of it. I thought, "Well, if everyone else has a right to put their BS out there, so do I." Hopefully, mine isn't BS.

1) BE NICE YOU IDIOTS. Nobody wants you to flame his or her art. If you have criticism, by all means, let it out. People want to improve their art, and they want your opinion and your approval. Believe me, everyone wants to be loved. And being loved is as simple as saying, "Wow, that's really neat." and even "I wish it had more green!"

2) WELCOME TO DA. That should have been first, but I felt a need to yell at mean people. So, how's DA? Do you like it? Really, that's so neat. OMG I love that anime too! Wasn't that easy? TALK PEOPLE, TALK. (Like Crash, lol) If you have something to say, say it. If you don't, shut up.

3) GO BE OUT THERE. If you have a sick amazing style, show it. Somebody will love you, other than your mother. Be yourself, damnit. If all you can do is scribble, scribble away. DO YOUR BEST. Your best may suck to Jane Doe, but who gives a crap about her. The point is you're proud of what you've done. And that's what it's all about, isn't it?

4) DA IS NOT MYSPACE. And don't use it as such. That's how Neopets went to hell.

5) CHTSP3@k. OK, nobody likes chatspeak, but we all use it sometimes. It's not deadly. Good grammar and intellect isn't required, but it will gain you a different level of respect.

6) WHEN COMMENTING ON THOSE "BIG STARS" DON'T CRY WHEN THEY DON'T ANSWER BACK. You're just a number. From experience, I can say I delete my messages without reading them sometimes. For those who do read every message, I commend you.

7 ) DON'T FEEL OBLIGATED TO THANK EVERY PERSON WHO FAVES YOUR ART. I'm sorry, I don't. I make stamps, so I get like, 8 billion faves a day. I just can't keep track :Y

8) DON'T BE SCARED OF DAMN. It's not that mean and scary, really. There are tons of nice people, and at least one chat room thats really made for you.

9) LEARN SMILEYS. I still haven't, and I wish I did. It makes everything funny.

10) JOIN A CLUB. If you have the time. Clubs are a great way to meet people, and show off your art. They really are fun. PSST, join ~TeenTitansII-Club, it's like super fun and we need more members.

11) YOU DON'T NEED A SUBSCRIPTION. Before V6, it probably made sense. But now, the only benefit is a customizable journal. You can have the same amount of merriment without a subscription. Don't be tempted. Save your money. Preferably for food.

12) PAGEVIEWS MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY. Admit it, you love having people on your page. Everyday, I click "Random Deviant" and "Random Deviation". Kiribans are uber fun too.

13) DON’T PICK FIGHTS. But if you get into one, don’t lose it. That’s what my daddy always told me.

14) NOBODY LIKES A SCOUT. What I mean by this, is posting DA rules when somebody is being an idiot. When the rules are needed, post them. When you’re just trying to be smart, keep it to yourself. If the other person is in the wrong, a fly will land in their Mocha crème super size.

15) PLAY IN ALL THE REINDEER GAMES. “IM A FUCKING SHARK!!” © ~SHARK-ARMY, “ixel ID’s” © *Endling, “DA Liscense” © ~stixman, etc. It’s really fun to join in in the trends. Being a trendsetter is even more fun though. So get out there and make something for people to do.

16) MEMES ARE HILAROUS. They tell a lot about a person, and if you have the time, have the fun.

17) USE YOUR JOURNAL. But don’t be a journal whore. The reason they’re there is to tell your watchers how your life is going. And they really work like a regular journal. VENT PEOPLE, VENT.

18) DON’T BE AFRAID TO WATCH BILLIONS OF PEOPLE. I watch at least sixty people. Not because I’m a stalker, but because I like their art. When you get a watch, you feel loved.

19) TWO WRONGS DO NOT MAKE A RIGHT. But four rights make a square. If someone insults you, ignore him or her. They want you to talk back, but if you don’t, they have no argument.

20) EVERYBODY HATES PORN. O rly? So why are you looking at it?

21) SHOOT FOR THE STARS. Because even if you miss, you’ll hit a random bystander.

I hope this has helped, and even if it hasn’t, I’m just glad I put my opinion out there. I was really starting to get ticked off about these other guides that are poisoning the DA newbies. All right, the last two were BS, but it’s human nature. Sometimes you need a little BS to see the regular shit around it. I’m sorry about that. It was really uncalled for.
