New color profiles for Adobe Camera RAW 4.5

`jmonzani:iconjmonzani: reports, August 1, 2008
Along with the latest Camera Raw update (v4.5 - August 1st 2008), Adobe Labs is releasing new camera color profiles. While older profiles ACR 3.3 and 4.4 practically had no changes, the latest ones are much more interesting.

You can download them from here: [link]

As an example, look at how the dress and skin tones and contrast change when applying the new Portrait and Neutral profiles. I can't say one profile is better than another as it all depends of your image. But it offers you some pretty useful quick color adjustments before going into details.

These profiles are somehow similar to what Canon calls "Picture styles".

It's just another new feature in your arsenal :) Feel free to experiment with it.

Ooh nice!

I have never played around with the camera profiles, so this is a big eye opener for me!

Thanks for the info. :)

I had a look at them; for me I found those profiles quite nice for eos-40D but for 1D mkII the profiles were quite crap, very, very reddish and orange. Anyway, did you notice that they provide a tool for editing profiles also? I tried it but I don't think it's that useful for me; I tend to edit my images quite heavily anyway. Might be useful for someone less interested in heavy post-processing though.

Thanks for the info . . . maybe now my photos will look better after post-processing is done.... damn it, first I have to buy a monitor I´ll see colors the way they are

Yes, I've downloaded the editor too.
But as you said, it's better to use the other controls. But it's still a good batch of presets to try before starting to touch up a picture :)

Haha :) Yeah. Without a good monitor, what you'll do will be pointless :)
