You all know people who get alot of favourites, no matter what they do. And it is not their fault - Don't even think about that.

The problem is is, people often give favourites too easily, They see deviation, and think "Wonderfull colours, shame the image sucks otherwise, well i'll favourite it anyways". - No, no, no and no.

When you're thinking whether fav an image or not, you should think about reasons why you should NOT favourite it, instead of thinking why favourite it. And even if you don't end up favouriting the image, but the deviation still caught your eye, you should give critique, so hes/she's next deviation will be better than the last. We all want to put our standard a bit higher, and to by using advanced critique you help the person you're critiquing. Critique also helps you get critique, this is the way community works. You get what you give.

So the point is, you really should think before pressing favourite button. Think if it really is one of your FAVOURITES or is it just nice. Think about reasons why to favourite, and why to not favourite when you're about to fav. If the list "why to not favourite" is longer than "why to favourite" You should not click the button.

I know this might sound useless, but really it isn't. If you wanna maintain quality in dA, and help fellow artists grow the way to do it is to think before you press favourite, give critique, tell tips and most of all maintain friendship. Good critique isn't always just bashing the deviation down, actually it's never good to do that. We all have friends in deviantART, think have you given enough critique to your friends or not, if you find that you haven't given enough critique, you haven't helped them much. By faving bad work you actually hurt the artist, you make him feel that what he/she is doing is good, and he should keep doing it, and he/she will never improve.

Rom3o ( [link] ) made me realize this all, if everyone was like him, here at dA the general standard would be 100x better.
