HAPPY EIGHTH BIRTHDAY DEVIANTART!
deviantART will celebrate it's 8th magical year of world wide web dominance this Thursday, August 7th! Two years shy of a decade baby! Eight years on and still going strong. The 8 year mark sees us with over 8 million deviants, over 60 million deviations and record breaking amounts of commentary from all across the site. This year also saw the launch of Version 6, as well as deviantART's first forays into the convention circuit with Anime Expo and next week will see us at SIGGRAPH as well.So come one, come all, to forty eight hours of Birthday shenanigans! That's right, 24 hours is simply not enough time for us to express the glee and giddiness of this glorious gala! For two days we will be having events all across the site, so stop reading this and read the rest of the article so you know where to go!

In celebration of deviantART’s eighth birthday CEA is sponsoring a deviantMON contest.Everyone knows about the deviant Type selection on your settings page where you can choose to label yourself as a certain kind of deviant and the selections range from the upstanding right on through to the downright weird. In this contest you will get to illustrate these deviant types in the form of a deviantID badge, assign strengths, weaknesses, abilities and right a write description of how they act, where they come from or any other weird and wondrous fact about them.
