Huge Architecture photography competition on DA

~PierreDevlin:iconPierreDevlin: reports, August 10, 2008
Hello everyone. I am glad to annonce that I am hosting the biggest architecture photography competition on DA for some time. Architecture is very dear to me and love architecture photography. Due to this I want to help promote it as much as possible. This contest for sure will be a gateway to fame on DA as the winners will make a name for themselves infront of big audiences.

Competition theme: BEAUTY OF ARCHITECTURE

Comfirmed prizes: 21 months of subscriptions

Also the winners will get featured in the judges journals (I am still in discussion with judges with this) to help you get huge exposure infront of thousands of people.

1ST PLACE: 12 MONTHS SUBSCRIPTION (+ features in all judges journals)
2nd PLACE: 6 MONTHS SUBSCRIPTION (+ features in all judges journals)
3RD PLACE: 3 MONTHS SUBSCRIPTION (+ features in all judges journals)

JUDGES: include the finest architecture photographers on DA.

BOSNIAK

BIA37

ZARDO

Ethepare has shown interest in being a judge and i am still awiting responses from foureyes, anglereich, gnato and alexiuss to be judges.

What I am looking for: A really good composed photo which also expresses the BEAUTY OF ARCHITECTURE. You can get inspiration from the judges galleries. Don't be afraid with their level or thei stature. Yes a high standard is required to win but you can produce very good quality photos.

Categories accepted: Exterior, Interior, Statues and Monuments, Ruins and Abandoned places

The deadline is the 15th of September so there is plenty of time to submit. You only allowed TO SUBMIT ONE ENTRY! so I would advise you to submit in the last week as you only have one chance to submit.

RULES:

Who can enter? anyone can enter as long as you have 10 prevoius architecture photos in your gallery (it's only fair for those who love this genre of photography)

New deviations only from the 10th of August

HDR is accpeted (if it is new to you the i wouldn't recommend it as it takes time to master this technigue)

B&W is accepted

FILTERS: Lee, ND, Polariser and Fish eye and cokin filters are accepted (strictly no photoshop filters!!)

Programs accepted: Photoshop: levels, curves, brighness/contrast adjustments are accepted.

Photomatix is accepted for HDR.

Good luck to all and enjoy it.

If you could FAV this journal it would be great to promote it to as many people as possible.

question... lets say i want to participate, but i dont have 10 devs up yet... if i go out and shoot ten, and for me i dont mean just any ten... i mean i take this challenge up for the next month and put serious effort, am good to submit right?

i feel like the intention of the comp is to get people start on arch. photo.

second question... panaorama, not 180. but lets say i do a pano of a building i like in my city and i need 6 or 7 frames to capture what i want. is that koshure? or ney?

Why no photoshop filters?

Your camera can take an image, it cannot give it soul, thats something you have to add no matter how good your equipment is
~PierreDevlin:iconPierreDevlin: Aug 10, 2008, 2:35:09 PM
i was questioning for a while about this and thought too many people just rely on photoshop filters alone. i want to see what people really can do with their cameras first if you see what i mean? maybe it's my new approach influencing this.
~PierreDevlin:iconPierreDevlin: Aug 10, 2008, 2:36:57 PM
like i said anyone can enter if they meet the regulations, for sure you can. the pano will be accepted.
=morbidthegrim:iconmorbidthegrim: Aug 10, 2008, 2:54:03 PM
It may well limit your entries though, not everyone has filters for the camera so will not bother, I have no issues but I think it can be a bit too restrictive.

i know but do i risk people relying purely on photoshop? i will consider it. i know for sure not everyone has them, but i will see how it goes. i do allow some adjustments for everyone which should be enough to not really use photoshop filters. i'll see
~Pinter:iconPinter: Aug 10, 2008, 3:08:37 PM
awesome... i wanna see if i acn replicate a shot i did a few years ago. i was still a mad amature then. verse now i have graduated to photography rube. so my new camera+ lenses might be able to do it without, but i was just curious.
