Welcome to "Inspirations of deviantART" in our first "edition". The first on my list was Yotam Perel or LazyMuFFin. He is a very well known flash animator and is extremely good at what he does. He was kind enough to give me an interview. Before you read this make sure to check him out



Firstly, thank you for putting away the time so I could interview you. So, lets start this thing. Most people who have read any of your other interviews know how you got your start in flash animation and all that jazz, so lets jump past that.
How long did it take you to get all the success you now have on websites like deviantArt and Albinoblacksheep?

It took me a little while to get some people to watch my stuff on Deviantart, but it was also easy because it came naturally to me.
At that time I used to animate little "random" music clips and people liked em, so I just made more and more and grew STRONGER AND STRONGER!
I don't know that I have that many fans on Albinoblacksheep since you can't really comment there.
I remember liking the site when I was young, so I started by emailing Steaven (the guy who runs the site) older animations of mine and he kept adding them. It was simpler.


What is it like having over a million views on deviantArt and tons of fans? Does it ever get stressful?

If anything, it's nice. It's nice getting fan art once in a while, it's great when someone decides to buy me something from my wishlist, it's nice getting constructive criticism (which is very rare).
I was never stressed by it.


What did you think when Nameless first made it to the front page of deviantArt?

I thought "Oh that's silly".
The first animation that made it to the front page was just a joke I thought would be overlooked as it should have been.
For some reason people liked it, so I kept going.


How did your Flash group RWD start out?

The RWD started out when I saw Nogfish's animation "A Kitty Krew beatdown". The Kitty Krew are another group that exist on Newgrounds, I noticed that most of their animations are effortless loops, so we decided to form a group that releases quality spam.

Do you guys have anything “big” planned?

Unfortunately, no. Were having trouble getting everyone together for a collaboration.
Everyone's pretty busy at these times.
On the good side, A member named Luis ordered a bunch of RWD stickers that we might sell and just spread around. That'll be cool.

Besides RWD and Nameless, do you have anything planned?

I just might create another game for the Maxgames.com contest this year.
Hopefully it'll be good, unlike last years game.


What do you see yourself doing in the future? Does it involve flash?

I have no idea what I'll do, but I sure hope it'll involve flash.
If I want to shoot to the stars, I'll have a series on TV, but I doubt it for now.

I recently read on your journal that you are joining the army, what brought this up and what are your views on it?

"what brought this up"?
Well, it's the law.
I can't just NOT join the army... I can probably menuver myself around it but I think it's something people should go through.
Hopefully it won't just be a waste of three years of my life.


Back to the website questions. What goes through your head when you see a “I LUV LAZEE MUFFIN!!1!!!!!111” picture or animation?

I think it's really nice and cool that people actually care to make something for me.
No matter how bad it is, if it was made for me I'll favorite it and thank whoever made it.

Does what you see on deviantArt and sites like it ever get you angry?

Well, I wouldn't say "angry". I don't think that getting angry over the internet is healthy, especially if you don't have anything to do about it.
It's like Newgrounds, every animation that'll be a decent movie/game parody will be praised.
On deviantart everything thats drawn well and has to do with Harry Potter or some Animes I can't name will probably get a lot of favorites.

But I learn to deal with it, I can't change the people's minds. I bet some people feel the same about the stuff I make.


What would you tell a budding flash animator who wanted to make it big?

Don't spoon-feed your audience and make what you enjoy making.

Last question, a bear walks into a bar, what does he order?
