How would you feel if someone took your deviation, changed the hair color and say it's their original character(OC) design? Shouldn’t that be considered an art theft?

According to what our beloved DA does- is not.

The FAQ [link] states that:

‘It is considered acceptable for artists to reuse or reference ideas, scenes, poses, etc [...] Referenced, copied or inspired works should be created completely through your own efforts and must not directly contain any portions of the referenced work revealing it to be a manipulation or edit of the original.’

Which is followed by:

‘lease be aware that works which are considered legitimate fan art will be granted more leniency in certain situations and circumstances.’

Which allows things such as this [link] (‘reference’ [link]) to exist here and be admired by many.

‘wow amazing i luv all ur work keep it up ’ –says the first comment. Of course it’s amazing, it’s been made by top proffessionals in the brand!

If I upload a blonde Pocahontas will this make me another Disney? Can I really surpass Stan Lee by changing colors of his works? Indeed, the proof is in the Report Deviation link- ‘5 cases closed, no action required’.

Some people here have pencil dust on their hands 24/7, some seemingly consider that filthy, not artistic at all. Maybe it’s a new type of allergy not yet discovered? Will there be a doctor admin to prepare a remedy?

If you have no skills and your desperacy is deep enough to even make you draw on a grid paper- that’s ok., don’t worry, anything you made yourself is better than theft, even if it’s allowed here.
