Hello, and welcome to the News :3

Here are a few things that i have picked up on since joining DA. I hope you enjoy and agree ^_^
If you have anything you think makes a bad artist, without taking artistic skill in to it, let me know here ^_^

In No perticular order -

1. Recolours and thiefs / frequent Base Users - Now i am not just saying that stealing is wrong as i am sure you all know already. What i really mean by this is people that recolour screenshots and use bases TOO MUCH. i am fine with the occasional picture using a base, i even dont really mind a recoloured screenshot as long as it is credited, but to do it too much is to show a lack of confidence in your art, which is never a good thing. Again, i have done a Gen8 picture of my characters, but you will never improve if you dont put down the mouse, pick up a pencil and start drawing

2. 'Safe' Art - What i mean by this is people that find something that works for them, and sticks to it without trying out new things. Say, if someone found a great way of doing a picture, and because of this, never feels the need to try new things! this again shows a lack of confidence and your art cant get better until you are ready to let it

3. Flamers - I see it more and more on DA. People whose art is barely better then someone else's, but they feel that they can push them around because of it. I have noticed that it is never good artists that flame others, and i get the feeling that the flamers are people that have been bullied before, in RL or on DA, and think that flamming people will move them higher up the food chain. There is too much hatred in the world as there is and i DO NOT believe that people would act like this in RL, so why act like it on DA?
Flamming is a sure fire sigh of a lack of confidence, and the people usually do it in groups, which is even more cowardly.

4. Anti ****'s - I have heard this alot on DA too. People that HATE a fictional character, or HATE one personals fictional character being with another fictional character. Sonic style, deep down is Fan Fiction. And in Fan Fiction you can do what ever you like! If you dont like what someone has done, that really shouldnt concern you! I think it is great that people add things onto the offical story *ie - giving Shadow a girl friend / making a new badguy for sonic / set the sonic story in a different light*.

5. Ultimate Life Forms - It is very easy to make a character that is 'ALL POWERFUL'. But it also gives the character no personality in my opinion. Even Superman has a weakness. if you have a character which is the best fighter in the galaxy or what ever, try toning them down a little, and you will be supriced how much more interesting your character will become. I like to think that no matter how powerful any fan character is, Sonic can beat them. That should be the level of power in my opinion, and having a character that is clearly more powerful ( hmm... like...... SHADOW for example D< ) does the story no justice and can not be interesting.

6. IM NOT LISTENING! BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! - Believe it or not, there are some nice people out there ^^ but alot of the time when people are GENUINELY trying to help some one with their art, they get the cold shoulder. I admit, sometimes people say "THIS IS F****** **** YOU ******* ******!" and then say that they were trying to help -_-; That is rediculous, but why someone sends you a crit message about your art, read it carefully first, then decide if it is trying to help or not!

7. Look at this! I am sooo bad XD - This is the Main thing that i have noticed on here and it gets to me T_T People that work hard on posting a picture, and then say in the artists comments EVERY little thing that is wrong with their own picture. This is A KILLER! PLEASE stop doing this! I will explain why -

If you draw a picture of 10 cats, all different colours, show it to someone and say "Dont look at the red cat" it will be the first thing that they see and the only thing they can focus on.

By pointing out your own mistakes, you are ruining your pictures, because EVERY person that looks at it will see the mistake. I know it can be imbarrassing, but let your watchers and friends see the picture without you telling them what is wrong with it. That way, you will find out what is really good or bad about the picture, and give your friends a chance to help you improve
