First of all this news article is not meant to cause problems and is simply my opinion. If you do not like it, feel free to voice out your opinion to myself or others but do not be rude.
Too many people are coming out with negative articles, news and comments about the 2008 Beijing Olympics. It has even come to the point that people here on DA are making stamps that are against the 2008 Summer Olympics simply because it was held in China. I find this to be very ignorant and immature.
I believe that if one does not support the Olympics then they don't have to display such dislike in an untasteful manner. The Olympics is a cause for the worlds greatest atheletes to compete in one place without the politics. It is an event meant to showcase the talents and capabilities of different athletes around the world. This isn't about politics or drama and people need to set that aside.
If people have something against China they shouldn't promote the boycotting of an event like the Olympics since it has no relation whatsoever to the country. China is just a host. Plain and simple.
If you believe in athletics and sportsmanship, then support the 2008 Olympics.
In light of this, if you believe that the Beijing 2008 Olympics feel free to use some of the stamps I found on DA as well as my own:
The Olympics is the spirit of unity between different nations. Just because Ms. USA, I mean China, tripped, doesn't mean you should throw tomatoes at the ideals and the presence of the Olympics. Blame China all you want, but leave the pageant alone.
Frankly, I've never been into sports.

Years before, even wars were brought to a ceasefire during these games. It saddens me that after all they've done to promote peace and unity among nations, there are still those who would twist the truth to depict the Olympics as, for lack of a better word, evil. If these truly were the games of politicians, there would be no gold medal winners

Wow, thank you so much for featuring my stamps! ^^ I like yours, by the way, very nice. I hope many people read this, as it's very true. They should support their countries, and everyone elses's, athletes then accuse them of cheating.

The Ancient Greeks were the creatures of the Olympics, in part to stabilize the constant and often pointless civil wars between the city-states within Greece. The original belief is that, to praise the Olympus gods, all wars had to cease fire for the games, and all citizens to respect them, since they are to hail the gods. What made the games so unique and thus favorable was that, it was a different type of fighting, friendly, and often passionate. Admittedly, and inevitably, seedy corruption began to take place even then, wars that ran through an Olympics meant that both parties had a chance to recoup and recover, simply to fight violently on, but the main belief of respect was there, all though the time until the Ottomans ceased Greece. Now, such a thing is hard to notice. The world is indeed much more passionate of sport, but perhaps to the point that they see the institutions as places of worship. But the greater loss was the ancient laws of athletics, created by the Greeks; Hold no war, respect the games, honor the gods. While 'honor the gods' no longer needs to take a part in sport today, it is right to uphold the former two, for sport in the modern world is its own war, fought between men of uniform now, and rank and file. Also, it's the height of sport to win a gold medal, so within the human nature of greed and lust, most athletes play harder, faster, better, but the few without the will turn to drugs and enhancers. I suppose a piece of metal with ribbon around it is more appealing than being offered to the gods for the chance to become a god yourself. While the world has adopted the modern variation of the original games, the message is droned out from gunfire and explosions, accusations of doping and cheating, a public dislike for a country, or city, and people yelling at other people about something completely and utterly different. Well, if you can't hear me, tell read my lips; Do not fight during the games, respect the games and the country that hosts it, honor YOUR gods with the human nature to respect and honor the fastest, the strongest, and the best. And if you can't read my lips, well then, the Olympics is doomed! (LOL Sorry for the very long rant! xD)

How are people supposed to voice their disapproval of Chinese actions in regards to the Olympics? I think boycotting it because you do not agree with some of the actions taken to host the Olympics is legitimate. I haven't been watching the Olympics because I don't think it's OK to raze peoples' houses in order to construct Olympic venues, I don't think it's all right for media-types to get arrested for trying to report the news, and a myriad of other things that are both Olympic and non-Olympic related.
Whether people support or don't support the Olympics is obviously a personal choice - it might seem logical to separate the Games themselves from the host, but people have strong personal feelings about it and for a lot of people it just isn't possible to make the distinction.
