Giving to those who are truly in need

=ImaRawkStar:iconImaRawkStar: reports, 2d 21h ago
This is the time of year of which we all get tangled up in our own troubles and do not focus on some of the real issues of the world. Well, heifer.org can help us with this, by giving animals to families who are truly in need of food, shelter and security.

By donating a small sum of money, such as ten to twenty dollars, you could provide a family with an animal such as a cow, which could produce milk for the family, for food and cooking. With the extra milk it produces, the family can go to the local market and sell the milk to gain more money, which could go towards food and shelter. Over time, the family will start to gain an income and will be able to earn an education.

With the education, they can receive a steady job and produce a stable income for the family to survive. Just by donating a small sum of money, you could not change one life, but many around them. But this is not just it, the family MUST produce offspring to give to another family, which will do the same thing as the family before. Over time, the community will grow and sooner or later, the impoverished areas will start to gain strength.

Even if you can not donate any money, please donate a few seconds or minutes by adding a favorite to this article and sending it on to other deviants around deviantart. It would be really awesome if we could get some support on this, and maybe as an art community we can pull together to help others in need! I know it can be done!

When did we start hating everything?

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

SAAM Sexual Assault Awareness Month, April

Rape is not just a crime, it is a heinous and personal invasion on the most intimate of levels. Rape destroys lives and belittles its victims. End the silence, conquer fear, and speak up. We need to raise awareness and help prevent this inhumane crime.

Blinded by the "rules"

`morbidthegrim:iconmorbidthegrim: reports, August 23, 2008
Is dA right in its approach that a personal journal is not a direct contact with other members when it so openly attacks that member or that members beliefs?

[link]

[link]

Is dA simply not wanting to spend time to resolve an issue that affects some of their members because its too busy trying run a business?

Is dA forgetting that without the member base it would not have a business?

Yes there are rules and they should be applied but from time to time a little common sense should be used, if most business were ran in this manner they would not be running for long.

What would be the issue with a quiet word in the ear of the offending party to simply say that although its not against dA's policy it is though against decency to harass a member in this fashion, should it continue the maybe dA will need to look into it further and sanctions may apply?

Strange that a few simple words in someones ear may well have brought this whole thing to a swift end but it seems dA simply cannot be bothered to deal with it as its simply not "important" enough in the grand scale of things.

Someone somewhere needs to get a grip!

I agree with you 100%.

One rule for some, and another for others. Apparently it is fine to castigate someone and publicly humiliate them, but only if you happen to be the "right" brand of christian (it helps if you don't even know your bible as well as this athiest, at least. Book of Revaluations indeed...). And it's cool if you can set your little minions on the porr person, too. So, dA loses a very talented artist, and keeps an immature little hypocrite who hides behind multiple identities and the tissue of lies that is his version of religion.

And this isn't the only case of elastic application of the rules. I have reported violations of dA's pornography policy, only to have received a reply that "this deviation does not meet the definition for pornography which is currently in place".
I reported [link] for violating the policy delineated in FAQ #565: You prohibit the submission of 'pornographic imagery'; what do you consider this to be? regarding depiction of sexual fluids. How does this image not violate this policy?

Those are but two of innumerable examples of inconsistent application of their own rules, nepotism and a lack of attention to the wishes of the bulk of people who want nothing more than to enjoy art, display their art and communicate with other artists free from prejudice, peurile & infantile behaviour and pathetic self-aggrandisement and attention seeking.

I 'm not completely sure what it's all about but this is an art gallery and I cannot understand why every now and than people seem to make it an gallery of harassment  it sure is a waste that someone feels he or she needs to stop because of some brainless idiot who thinks he or she is better than someone else.
I sure hope she will stay.

cool that you are doing this news article. yesturday i did a journal about this. hopefully hundreds or even thousands know about this so the stupid admins realise that they could be broke one day if they carry on like this.
:iconlolly:
What about freedom of speech? What about the nature of art being to question and confront things and people, therefore by extension artists being the kind of people who will go off on one another?

I hate when people chalk this up to laziness of admins when the truth is they want admins to play baby sitter and put baby in the corner.

The other thing is, in my 5 years working for this site for almost every single case of someone claiming harassment you would look and find that person themselves right there fueling the fire and keeping the fight going, encouraging their friends to help them and so on. Almost never, maybe one of 1000 cases, was there someone just harassing someone out of the blue unprovoked and one sided.
