Interview with Julijaaa

=MrsCullen:iconMrsCullen: reports, August 30, 2008

♦ Interview with *Julijaaa

Julija's art is really inspiring and emotional. She is a very sweet and caring girl and I love her and her amazing artworks.
Please support her  she is one of my favourite artist here on dA.

How long ago did you discover dA? Why did you decide to join?

I discovered it in 2005, and made an account which I kept for a while, but there I was doing different art, and I felt that I could really express myself more with photomanipulation so I started a new account. I was very inspired by the beautiful and realistic scenes that people could create through photo manipulation, and I wanted to do the same!

What does popularity on deviantArt mean for you? Bad and good aspects.

Hmm.. popularity is over rated. One of my favourite things is to find unknown artists who have brilliant work.. some artists who are popular generally have the same or lesser quality of work.. However, some of my closest dA friends are popular artists, and I think their works are breathtaking and inspiring, and they deserve all that love! :blowkiss:

I think that unknown artists have interesting original ideas and use unique stock! This includes digital, photography, and traditional artists too! :aww:

Apart from art, what do you like doing the most in your spare time?

I play a lot of music in my spare time :) Sometimes, when my manips arent turning out, I paint and draw, because I like to develop my traditional style as much as I like to develop the manip one. I take a lot of photos too, which can be found on my flickr! [link]

I read too, but not much lately, because I have been studying for school and my final exams are coming up... (not as much studying as I'd like, lol)

Would you be able to pick one of your works as special and most meaningful one and tell us about it? What inspired you, what happened in your mind and heart when you were creating it.

One of the most personal works for me in my entire gallery is "Silent Melody". I made this piece as a direct response to a piece of music that is very moving to me, written by someone. All the imagery, as well as the theme of that piece is all reflective on my personal thoughts and what comes to my mind as I hear the piece. There are also deeper meanings, but overall that piece is the most special to me, even though it was not one of my best in terms of tecnhiques.

Looking at it breaks my heart every time.

I must say that I love every single artworks in your gallery, but I have a "crush" for Bittersweet [link] Can you tell me more about this work?

Aww thank you! :aww:  Yes, I like this one too. It was a simple manip, but I think that because of its simplicity, the message gets across. I was thinking about growing up at the time.. for me it seems that just recently I was young.. and now I am finishing high school (I know a lot of people think 18 is still young lol) but I was just thinking about it, and decided to interpret it in my own way. :)

In your gallery there are a folder in which you collect your scenery. You think it's relaxing doing it? What is your inspiration in your sceneries?

Yes, I think its relaxing because creating them makes me believe that they could be out there, in secret unexplored places, not polluted by modernity. It's also interesting to make them, because there are different things to take into account when making scenery, as there is no model. I focus more on lighting and colours when making scenery, and I gather inspiration from dA artists, as well as music and dreams.

How much is music important for you? I know you play instruments, can you tell us more about your passion?

Yes, I've been playing piano for my whole life, and recently I learnt the harpsichord and pipe organ. Music is very important for me, because it's something that I can let out my emotions.. it's often theraputic for me.. I can sit at my piano for 2 hours and leave feeling refreshed and rid of sadness. It really helps me get through some bad days

Looking at your gallery is like jump in magic world, sometimes dark and mysterious, sometimes delicate and I want to know if you sometimes see reality in this way. You refuge in your own world to escape some difficulties in life?

Yes, I believe all artists do in a way.. for me it is to create pictures which may reflect my moods and feelings, and at other times I simply make a picture with the intentions of creating something which is not seen every day.. I am tired of seeing the same things every day, no unique landscapes.. :giggle:

I've always had my family and different things that have really made me excited to create art and try new things. Is there someone in deviantArt or outside of dA who has really inspired you to create the art you do? If so, what feelings or things about these people influenced your creativity?

Ah, well my parents see my works from time to time, but usually I'm too shy to show them :giggle:. For me, the amazing support from my dear dA friends has completely kept me developing my style and trying new things :) Music lyrics also often inspire me, especially those of Opeth, Nightwish and Tristania.

We want to know Julija! Tell us about you, for example what do you do during the day? How is the place you live?

My days.. I wish I had something exciting to tell.. :giggle: Every day I go to school.. and usually afterwards I go to the city for a short time to buy some things, go to a special restaurant with ~Hooful quite often, and sometimes the church where I practice organ (this is not too often.)When I get home I cuddle my dog :) and I play piano for a few hours during the evening, and just go on dA :D

On the weekend I usually go out one day and clean/work the other day..

I know when I create my art I always seem to have a certain idea in mind before creating it. I would love to know, is there any sort of idea or picture in your mind before you create your artwork or do your feelings guide you through each work?

Usually it depends on the stock for me. Once I find a model, for example, I think about what background would suit her, and I formulate some ideas. The colours would reflect the feelings, and the use of symbols would be important too, if I am trying to achieve a more meaningful work.

How do you see yourself and your art 2 or 3 years from now? Are you going to continue with photomanipulation and also photography?
Is there any other medias of art you would like to try and experiment with? Is art something you want to take more seriously?

Ooh.. yes. I'd love to continue with photomanipulation.. I've been doing it for a while and it has changed so much.. what I love about it is that it is really so open and diverse.. you can make such different works over time.. and it could never get boring. Looking at other deviants' galleries, as well as my own, I can see the progression of style and the change from when they started and now.

I'd like to develop photography, and I have been purchasing some old cameras like polaroid and going to buy a holga, and I also really want to take some photographs with old film cameras.. because I feel that digital photography is taking over too much and there is not as much intimacy between the photo and photographer.

I do traditional art too.. and I want to write a children's book, as well as many other projects that I have a list of :giggle: on this list includes sewing a bustle dress.. so I have a lot of exciting things coming up in the next few months! :giggle:
