Sounds familiar,right?
Well for me it was and still kind of is. Every time I went on the dA it was just to check my pageviews and see if I had any comments. I didn't bother trying to make friends. It was just about being popular.
Partially, at the time, I blamed school. I mean I wasn't a nerd or anything.I was just an average kid, you know?
I joined the dA with the account
. I looked at other peoples art and decided to submit it (I know, stupid me). I learnt to draw my own things over time. However, I just visited peoples pages and practically begged them to watch me just so that my friends list was full. I did everything I could to be popular but guess what? It only ammounted to like 100 pageviews (oops, I'm doing it again). I don't know how it happened but I happened to have a revelation. I tried getting to know people and I made friends. Funny how you make more friends by being yourself.
Sadly, I got admitted into boarding school in Africa in 2006 (I'm going for 10th grade in September). I left the dA for like a year until summer. Guess what? All those phony friends I made didn't know I was gone. It was only true friends like, well I won't mention any names, that welcomed me back and even MISSED me. ME!
So I just wanted to say for all new people (or oldies) who think that nobody cares about your art that you are W-R-O-N-G. People will always see your artand even if they don't comment, you know that you did your best. It's not about the pageviews or the number of watchers you have it's about doing what you love best, ART! It's also about making friends in the process and actually getting to KNOW THEM (it's not as scary as it sounds)!

I don't think it's right for me to get that treatment
When i first joined DA i didnt get any messages at all for the first 24 hours and that FREAKED me out! i was like watching it constantly to see if people liked my art or hated it. At the time I had resently lost my dad to cancer and i wasnt really in a stable mind set, so i got INCREDIBLELY paranoid and even started to remove my gallery. Then after the first day i got a comment from someone, saying my art was nice, and it was one of the greatest feelings ever ^__^
Doing Sonic Fan Art there are millions of people that will talk and be friends with me due to the art subject, and soon i met some truely great and cool people!
Its 8 months down the line now since i joined and i have gotten a HELL of alot more watches and PV's then i expected. Though to tell you the truth i have 300 watchers and i would say only around 50 of them comment regularly on my page.
A lot of people are only interested in viewing and making art on this site and not into making long term friends. I personally joined JUST to make friends. Its not about how meny friends you make, its how good the ones you have are and how good a friend you are to them.
Anyway, sorry for the huge comment. great job on the article

The Main Problem is probably the Size of this Page, without actually going to random Deviants and writing something if you like their Work is nearly the only way of being noticed. The newest Deviants and such are Useless, so much is uploaded in so little Time that you will never get noticed unless your God-Like from the start.
I also don't really feel all that welcome as a Writer, I think that too many People are so lazy that they don't give that kind of Stuff a chance. With that I'm pretty much lost here. But Hell, I do this for the Fun of it, I just wish I would get more Feedback.
