dAPride’s 500k+ contest and scavenger hunt is finally here, read below for more details.

Judges. I have contacted a number of people to ask them if they would like to be a judge for the contest. If you didn’t get a note from me (and since we have over 3,500 members it is likely you didn’t) but wish to participate as a judge please note me ( =OnyxSeraphim ) with the subject dAPride Contest Judge and in your message let me know for which category you want to judge. We have three judging categories: Photography, Poetry/Prose, and Traditional Art/Digital Art.

Contributors. If you would like to donate a journal feature, a subscription, prints etc., please note me ( =OnyxSeraphim ) with the subject dAPride Contest Contribution. Any additional support is always welcome

The Contest

• Submissions for the contest will open Monday September 15, 2008


• The deadline for submission entries will be October 31’st 2008


• Any submissions for the contest sent in before the 15’th or after the 31’st (of October) will not be considered


• A maximum of 2 deviations per person will be accepted.


• We are looking for new submissions, however we will accept anything from your gallery dated within 10 days of the contest start date (Sept.15). See below for more details.


• Submissions can take the form of any medium; poetry, prose, photography, digital art, and traditional art


• The theme for our contest is Emotion. Read more below.

The Scavenger Hunt

• The Hunt will begin Monday September 15, 2008


• All clues will be posted on the 15’th as a new journal entry (keep an eye out for it)

The Contest

The submission contest is based on the theme of Emotion. For a number of reasons; first of all emotions are universal, we all experience them and we all recognize them. Secondly, being a GLBT club catering to so many diverse members in so many parts of the world lends us a unique window into how different people in different areas cope with situations such as coming out, finding that first love, or breaking up. Fear, sadness, regret, joy, happiness, contentment all play a part for each of us somewhere sometime in our lives. Expressing that emotion in a way that truly captures it, the moment, the feeling; is what we’re after with this contest.
This is a contest theme in which you can utilize whichever medium you are most comfortable with (photography, poetry, prose, traditional art, or digital art). This is not a contest specifically aimed at love or GLBT themes; this contest is open to everyone (members of dapride and those who aren’t). Again, we are looking for emotion in any context (i.e. conceptual photos/art which capture emotion without anything human included; plants, animals, other objects used creatively to convey an emotion. Think outside of the box if you want )

(!) Contest submissions will be accepted as of September 15’th, 2008 and the deadline for submissions will be October 31’st, 2008. Any submission before or after these dates will not be considered.

(!) A maximum of 2 deviations per person will be accepted for this contest.

(!) We are looking for new deviations/submissions (anything from September 15 and forward), however we will accept the following:

1. Deviations in your gallery that are within 10 days of the contest start date (Sept.15) i.e. if you had a deviation you submitted on the 5’th of September you wanted to use for this contest. We will accept it.


2. Older deviations, which haven’t been posted to deviantART. I.e.: A photo you took last year but never submitted to deviantart, that you wish to use for this contest. We will accept it.

(!) You may submit your entries in any of the following mediums: Photography, poetry, prose, traditional art, and digital art.

How to submit your entries

Beginning on the 15’th of September we will start accepting entries for the contest. To submit your entry:

Send a note to *dapride with the subject dAPride Contest Entry and include a thumb or link to the deviation you are sending in the body of the message.

The Scavenger Hunt

The scavenger hunt will be a series of clues posted weekly progressively getting more and more difficult. It will begin on September 15’th and end on October 31’st. Each week will begin with a set of clues, and a date/time for those week’s answers. Points will be awarded to the first 10 people who correctly answer the clues and submit their answers after, NOT before, the date/time for those week’s answers. At the end of the contest the person with the most points will win. Prizes will be given out to the top 5 people. Scavenger Hunt Prizes will be announced on the 15’th of September.
