The Best of September Visual Art!

`karemelancholia:iconkaremelancholia: reports, October 7
Now it's time for September 2008 Visual Art Features, many new art to discover!

Don't forget that many artists need to be viewed, they deserve it!
Fave Fave Fave!
My main purpose in doing a monthly feature about (to my point of view) 'the best visual art' is to put in the same level as well wellknown artists and popular creations as unknown artists and under-exposed creations.
Artists need to be supported.
So don't be shy!

Visit their pages, support them by faving, commenting, and when you see a deviation that you like also view their gallery entirely, like that you can decide if you will devwatch them or not.
Viewing only a deviation (what is great) is not enough ;-)

And if you want to see your favorite visual artists or art selected to be in this feature for the next month, send me via note the links/thumbs!

:pointr: You can see the previous features here, in the Index i've created!

10 ways to Express Art – Part V

=Derzorvadur:iconDerzorvadur: reports, October 9
The project started as a mean to collect amazing artists all around deviant in a random way or as well for already personal recognition of the same, this is ONLY for the sake of art, no favoritism or popularity has anything to do with this, only REAL good art will enter in these articles, and the art exposed in here is what we personally consider the best of the best.

Who loved it?

Introducing, GMAX!

~ubu:iconubu: reports, September 26, 2001
Discreet, the makers of the professional modeling program 3D Studio Max, have released a FREE program called GMAX.

"GMAX is a free 3D content creation platform designed to let game enthusiasts create custom art for their favorite titles. It includes many powerful tools including polygon and patch editing, texturing, lighting, and simple keyframe animation.

When included as part of a game title, game packs can be loaded into gmax to provide a highly customized, title-specific game content editing and creation platform, allowing game players to build and share their own creations, and hours of added enjoyment of their favorite game titles."

Well, I have not tried it out, but holy shnikeys is this neato: Go grab it!

Killer idea that's for sure. If anything they are giving more longevity to themselves by doing this. I mean hell... 3d smax cost thousands of dollars... they really did need an alternative for those who wouldn't/couldn't get a pirated version of their most popular proggy. For example, look at Macromedia. They offer downloads for most all their software and it's all easily crackable... so a lot of people cracked it and developed contect with it. Next thing you know, the people who developed that "illegal" content are getting paid by a company who liscenses it legally and it's all over the web and is considered a 'standard'. So more or less, they allowed ppl with the talent (those who cracked it and actually learned it) to educate themselves on it and develop tons of content with it. Next thing you know, it is mainstream, and they have not allowed piracy, but invested in the future...

There will be some great content developed with this software and it might discourage some people from going the illegal route and just "taking what they need" legally instead of the whole program illegally.

At any rate, the gaming/mod communities have been needing something like this for a while. So I hope it works out for them.

I have about a million comments on why this is good but not many why it's bad... so i'll just leave it at this. If someone has a good reason why it's bad I would love to hear it cuz I'm open minded that way :) (Smile) Personally... I think the only way this could be a better project is if it would be Open Source!
But that's another issue all together ;) (Wink) Anyway, enjoy some free software the legal way ppl ;) (Wink) CYA!
