When
lolly resigned from the dA staff he was asked a lot of questions, so I decided to do an interview and see what he had to say.
-
In all the years you've worked for dA is there anything you've done that you regret? Not really, nothing serious anyway. There were times I look back at certain individual instances that I would have handled differently. Mainly just in the way I approached certain problems that could have been solved more easily.
But overall it was a great 5 years altogether between prints and heading up Community Development and I'm pretty proud of what myself and my teams accomplished.
-
What was the best thing about working at dA?Ha very very hard one to narrow down to just one thing. Hell, even being asked to be a volunteer way back when was like a dream come true. I loved this community immensely before working for it and it was an honor being asked to be part of the running of it, so I took full advantage and just worked as hard as I could to keep getting into bigger and better positions.
I guess if it has to be boiled down to a single thing, just being able to take a solid tangible role in helping to shape what dA is now, and be able to look at things and say "hey, I did that and it worked out pretty well".
And just getting to talk to so many fascinating people who are driven as artists and who love this community with everything they've got.
-
What's some advice you'd give to a community member who wants to reach a goal, for example, becoming a senior member or an admin? The biggest advice is
don't try. Just be yourself and do what you do, and if it happens to be being a conscientious member of the community who looks to improve their little corner of dA, then all the better. The people who go out of their way and make it painfully obvious they want to be on staff are almost never successful.
The people who end up on staff or seniors are just dedicated members who do that bit of indefinable extra that makes them stand out, but never intentionally
to stand out.
-
What do you have planned for the future, and do you think being a past dA admin will help you achieve your goals?Short term, just art and working on getting into galleries. As for long term I am thinking of going into consulting for other sites with community divisions, or looking for this sort of work with somewhere smaller or something unique that would make it a challenge or interesting to be a part of. It's going to be hard though since dA spoiled me pretty badly

-
Do you regret getting a dA tattoo now that you're no longer a dA admin?Nope, not in the slightest, if anything it means a little more to me now then while still on the team.
-
Where did the 'clown with the pony arms' things come from? Haha, *
Danium randomly commented on a photo of me and said that and it made me laugh pretty hard so it stuck.
-
Did you leave the admin staff on good terms?Yup, very good terms. I still talk to just about everyone and still drop by HQ for beers and shenanigans after hours.
-
Could you give away a few secrets about the dA staff? hehe...Anyone dance on a table topless one night?Hahah $
damphyr actually did last year at the x-mas party

And $
realitysquared is not scary at all in person, he's actually extremely polite and good natured.
Oh and the dA headquarters is made of gold and diamonds and everyone drives a Bentley!
-
What can we expect from Lolly in the future?More art, and more of me speaking uncensored

-
Do you know who will take your place as an admin? That honor went to $
chix0r who is the only person I could picture taking it over. Fiona's awesome and worked really closely with me on almost every major project, and she's got some brilliant ideas for the community. I can't imagine it being in better hands

---------------------------------
and there it is. We all know the dA staff don't drive Bentleys, though...They fly like superheros.
Love you, betch.
